The official announcement of F1 24 appears to be imminent, according to a newly emerged teaser from EA Sports. The next game in the F1 franchise is expected to hit the market come spring.

The official video game series of the FIA Formula One World Championship has been in the hands of racing veterans at Codemasters since 2009. Codemasters itself has been in EA's hands since 2021, when it was acquired to the tune of $1.2 billion. Not much has changed for the F1 franchise since then, with the British studio still treating it to annual entries that review well and sell even better.

EA Quietly Adds F1 24 Page to Its Website

The next installment in the series is now confirmed to be called F1 24, with its official announcement appearing imminent. That's according to the game's landing page that went live on EA's website on February 26. Although none of its contents outright state that Codemasters' next title is about to be unveiled, the timing of this development lends credence to a recent report from reliable leaker Billbil-kun, who labeled February 27 as a "high probability" date for the F1 24 announcement.

F1 24 Is Rumored To Release on May 31

The prediction was part of a wider overview of the upcoming game, which also saw Billbil-kun cite May 31 as F1 24's release date. Its official launch should be preceded by a three-day preview phase, as per the same source. Based on Codemasters' recent track record, that early access period will ostensibly be exclusively available to people who purchase the premium version of the game, which is likely to be called Champions Edition, a moniker used by all higher-tier releases of F1 games since 2021.

It is currently unclear whether F1 24 will be a cross-gen title, though that seems like a likely scenario, not least because of EA's historical tendency to keep supporting older consoles way longer than most other publishers. This has been a long-standing policy at the company, and is best underlined by the fact that FIFA 14 is among the rare few games to have been released on three consecutive console generations near-simultaneously. The minor delay between its version launches only happened because the game had to wait for the PS4 to hit the market.

The forthcoming F1 24 announcement will likely detail some of the new features that Codemasters has been working on since tackling the project. The British studio has been fairly consistent with introducing new elements to the F1 series over the years, a practice that the fandom has now grown accustomed to.
