College football is a whole different beast from the NFL, and being successful on campus means balancing football, classes, and burgeoning fame in order to achieve collegiate greatness and become a campus legend. Coaches must spend as much time on recruiting and building the brand of the football program as they do scheming for the next opponent, and those differences mean a lot of potential for the EA Sports College Football franchise. When it returns in 2023, EA Sports College Football will highlight these unique features in the popular Dynasty and Road to Glory modes, each making their return to the franchise.
Sports games are often defined by the amount of modes in the game and the variety of ways players can play both a single-player experience and take on other players in multiplayer competition. Some of the best modes allow players to get immersed in the role of a player or coach/manager in that sport, and Be A Pro style modes give fans the opportunity to build their own career with a created player, while Franchise modes give players the chance to build a powerhouse program over multiple seasons. In EA Sports College Football, the path to greatness on campus as either an individual player or a legendary coach is the centerpiece of the game, and Road to Glory and Dynasty are the modes aiming to provide that.
Road to Glory
Road to Glory allows players to create their own player that they will then guide through a four-year college career where they are trying to gain reputation points in order to become a campus legend and be remembered as one of the all-time greats in college football. Players will create their player and choose a position to be locked to for the next four seasons on campus, then start their career in the high school playoffs before seeing what scholarship offers and depth chart positions are available at different Division I football programs around the country. If no scholarships are available at the school of a player's choice, they can choose to walk on and start at the very bottom of the depth chart.
Once they have picked a school to attend, players will be player locked as a quarterback, running back, wide receiver, or any other position they choose and have to work their way up the depth chart against real-life NCAA players to become the starter. XP is earned in practice and by completing challenges, and earning more will help them achieve a better overall rating. At the same time, players will have to balance life off of the field, devoting time to studying, social life, getting some rest, and a lot more in a surprisingly deep and immersive mode. Earning enough points over the course of a career by reaching milestones, winning awards like the Heisman Trophy, and winning team accomplishments will help the player achieve the status of Campus Legend.
Build A College Football Dynasty
If fans prefer to control the entire team during games and handle all the play calling, then Dynasty mode is the much better fit for them. In EA Sports College Football's Dynasty mode, players will become the head coach of a Division I college football program, which includes a lot more than just playing the games on Saturdays. Over a multi-year career, players will have to recruit the biggest stars in college football, manage player morale, oversee player training and development, and make sure their staff of assistant coaches is extremely high quality. Over time, the goal is to raise a school's star rating in order to attract the best types of recruits, and the best way to do that is to win national championships.
If the new EA Sports College Football game is anything like NCAA Football 14's Dynasty mode, there will be the option for an online version of Dynasty mode as well, which allows fans to compete against other players in pursuit of college football glory. Probably the best feature of this mode is the ability to limit all human players to one conference, which ramps up the intensity and ensures players will be going head-to-head against their friends in games every season.
