For decades, it's been an established part of the comic book industry that when a new writer/artist takes over a run or begins a new one, they'll likely give the hero some kind of new look. These new looks range from complete overhauls of the character's visual design, to just a few slight tweaks to the suit's coloring and accents. The longer the character has been around, the more superhero outfits they'll have worn over the years, and that's certainly the case with Iron Man, a hero whose wardrobe is bursting at the seams.

Iron Man has worn countless suits of armor since his debut in 1963, many of which have retained the same gold and red color scheme that's become synonymous with the metallic hero. But every so often, Iron Man is given an armor so unique that it becomes an instant fan-favorite, and it's these suits that should be present in EA Motive's upcoming Iron Man game.

EA Motive’s Iron Man Game Should Keep a Marvel’s Spider-Man Criticism in Mind

There's a lot EA Motive's Iron Man game can learn from Insomniac's Spider-Man, including one big criticism that Iron Man can't as easily overlook.

Iconic Suits That Should Come to EA Motive's Iron Man

Godkiller Armor

Debuting in 2013's Iron Man Vol. 5 #12, Iron Man's Godkiller armor is one of the hero's most drastic redesigns, and it's widely considered to be Tony Stark's most powerful suit. Created by the Aspirants to turn the tide of the Celestial War, Iron Man believes he's been genetically chosen to be the pilot of this ancient Godkiller armor and briefly dons the hulking suit. After losing the suit, Stark builds the Godkiller Armor MK2, another Celestial-sized super suit that's extremely powerful.

Bleeding Edge Armor

One of Iron Man's sleekest armors, Bleeding Edge was first introduced in 2010's Invincible Iron Man Vol. 2 #25. This suit went on to inspire Iron Man's Infinity War and Endgame suits, as it was one of the first major instances of Stark using nano-machine technology to power the suit and have it encompass his body automatically.

Black and Gold Armor

Another suit from 2013's Iron Man Volume 5, the Model 42 suit - also dubbed the black and gold suit - has become one of the hero's most beloved looks. Along with looking very distinct, the Model 42 suit features a modular design that allows Iron Man to swap out various weapons and add-ons depending on the situation. Subsequent iterations of the black and gold suit are also capable of deep space flight and can be controlled remotely by Stark Omniversal Multitasking Software, a program that Rocket Raccoon helped to develop.

Superior Armor

Though it appeared briefly as a tease in July 2014's Avengers Vol. 5 #32, the Endo-Sym armor made its full debut in November 2014's Superior Iron Man #1. After being caught in a morally-inverting Scarlet Witch spell, Tony Stark decides to use his powers and genius for personal gain. He begins by building the Endo-Sym suit, a semi-biological armor based on the genetic makeup of a Symbiote. Though the comic is still pretty controversial, the Superior Iron Man suit is now one of the hero's most iconic.

MCU Armor

Of course, along with paying homage to the hero's long comic book history, EA Motive's Iron Man is likely to give players a few different MCU armors to try on, and there's no shortage of possibilities. There's the Mark 3 Iron Man suit, the Mark 7 Avengers armor, the Mark L Avengers Infinity War armor, and so many more that EA Motive could add to its Iron Man game.

EA Motive's Iron Man Suits Shouldn't Just Be Cosmetic

EA Motive's Iron Man suits should offer a little more functionality. At the minimum, each additional suit in EA Motive's Iron Man should give players a special ability or weapon themed after their source material, similar to Marvel's Spider-Man's Suit Mod system.

If Motive wanted to go the extra mile, then it could allow different suits to offer completely new styles of gameplay, such as a stealth suit allowing players to sneak into enemy territory, or a hydro armor allowing players to go underwater briefly to avoid enemy attacks.
