Highlights

  • Seven EA games are shutting down on March 21.
  • The games in question are F1 2011, F1 2012, F1 2013, F1 2014, F1 Race Stars, Micromachines World Series, and Rocket Arena.
  • Even more EA games will be shut down later this year.

Thursday, March 21 is set to be a particularly sad day for fans of EA's games, as seven titles will be shut down that day. In the age of expiring licenses, online multiplayer, and digital downloads, it's an unfortunate reality that some games are shut down and delisted. This has happened to many EA games over the years, and 2024 will see even more titles from the publisher shut down.

2023 saw many high profile EA games shut down, including the multiplayer for Dead Space 2, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, and more. While it's always disappointing when a game is shut down, EA at least gives users plenty of advanced notice. This way, anyone interested in playing the games before they're axed can do so. One of the biggest EA shut down days of the year is right around the corner, as the online for seven titles will cease functioning on March 21.

The 13 Best EA Games, Ranked

No one knows controversy like Electronic Arts, but they've still made some great video games. Here are their best ones.

The seven EA games getting shut down on March 21, 2024 are F1 2011, F1 2012, F1 2013, F1 2014, F1 Race Stars, Micromachines World Series, and Rocket Arena. The vast majority of these games are racing games, so fans of the genre may be particularly disappointed to see them go. It hasn't been made clear exactly why these games are getting shut down, but typically it's a combination of expiring licenses and dwindling player bases. After all, it's likely that the vast majority of F1 racing game fans have likely moved on to the newest entries in the series. Rocket Arena, meanwhile, is an online multiplayer arena shooter game with a focus on unique characters and rocket launcher combat somewhat reminiscent of old-school Quake.

EA fans that want to get the most of those seven games have until March 21 to do so. However, it must be stressed that all seven games have already been delisted. This means anyone that hasn't already downloaded them is out of luck if they want to play them before the shut-down dates arrive on March 21 - unless they happen to have a physical copy of one of the games, that is. Unfortunately, there are even more EA games getting shut down later in the year, and fans may want to keep them on their radar instead.

Kim Kardashian Hollywood is shutting down on April 8, and, in fact, has already been pulled from app stores. Madden NFL 20 is shutting down on April 15, while May 24 will see four EA games removed in the form of EA Sports MLB Tap Sport Baseball 2023, F1 Mobile Racing, Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-Earth, and MLB Tap Sports Baseball 2022. Finally, Super Mega Baseball 2 is shutting down on July 24, and is so far the last EA game confirmed to be shutting down in 2024. However, it's entirely possible that even more games will end up on the chopping block, so fans should keep an eye out.
