Electronic Arts has confirmed that it will shut down the online services for Crysis 3, Dead Space 2, and Dante's Inferno later this year. EA has a running list of when it will end online support for its older games. This way players can stay informed in advance before bidding farewell to the multiplayer of their favorite games.

In March this year, EA closed the online services of four more games in its catalog, including well-known names like Shadows of the Damned and Syndicate. This year the Medal of Honor servers were also closed, ending the online mode for 2011's Medal of Honor, Medal of Honor: Airborne, and Medal of Honor: Warfighter. As new games are released, it's normal for the multiplayer of older titles to become less populated, and their servers eventually get closed. While it's always a sad thing to see happen, it's a common procedure for developers to redirect their resources.

EA has updated and confirmed the dates of the closure of online services for Crysis 3, Dead Space 2, and Dante's Inferno for later this year. Crysis 3 was released in 2011 and took players back into battle as the soldier Prophet. Crysis 3's online features will shut down on September 7 for PS3, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Steam, and EA App. Dead Space 2 was also released in 2011, and over a decade later retains its status as one of the best horror games for PS3. Dead Space 2 online services will be shut down for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 on December 8. Finally, 2010's Dante's Inferno will shut down the online components on December 8 for PS3, PSP, and Xbox 360. Based on Dante Alighieri's classic La Divina Comedia, the game follows Dante, a soldier of the Third Crusade who traverses Hell to rescue his beloved.

  • Crysis 3 - September 7
  • Dante's Inferno - December 8
  • Dead Space 2 - December 8

It is also worth noting that the three EA titles are also part of the Xbox backward compatible games catalog. As such, players of modern Xbox consoles will lose access to the online features of the three games in the coming months. Despite the closure of online services, players can still purchase Crysis 3, Dead Space 2, and Dante's Inferno to play offline.

Crysis 3 got a remaster in 2021, but the new version doesn't include an online mode. With the success of the Dead Space remake, players can only wait and see if EA will make a Dead Space 2 remake that has multiplayer. Dante's Inferno never got a sequel, although several players have already expressed interest in one.
