EA Sports College Football 24 seems to be moving forward with its Summer 2024 release, following the dismissal of a lawsuit regarding the use of college football players' likeness within the game. This will be the first college football game released since 2013, and fans were worried that the various pitfalls surrounding the development of a new game would keep EA Sports from delivering its product.

EA Sports' NCAA Football series was a highly successful franchise that released yearly installments until 2013, when legal disputes over EA Sports' use of players' likeness proved to be too troublesome. However, in 2021, EA Sports announced that it's bringing back the storied franchise, creating significant excitement among college football fans. This time around, EA Sports will pay players who opt-in to have their likeness featured in the game. To facilitate deals with players who want to be in the game, EA Sports announced its partnership with OneTeam Partners, a company that represents and manages college athletes. A competing company known as The Brandr Group sued EA Sports over these developments, arguing that this partnership was circumventing players' rights to negotiate their own payment for being included in the game. It was reported that each player would receive a flat payment of $500 to have their likeness featured in College Football 24.

After a long wait, EA Sports' NCAA Football franchise is returning next summer with all of the fan-favorite features and a few new ones as well.

These developments worried fans who were cautiously hopeful for College Football 24's release. While it wasn't particularly surprising that the game's development ran into some legal hurdles, it was possible that this lawsuit would set the game's development back. However, fans can be relieved to know that OneTeam Partners and The Brandr Group released a joint statement, in which they explained that the two companies reached an amicable agreement, and that The Brandr Groups' lawsuit would be withdrawn from court. This development seems to pave the way for College Football 24's release in Summer 2024.

EA Sports previously announced that it reached licensing deals with most of the major colleges, a needed step for EA's College Football series to return to its former glory. It's still unclear how many players will decide to opt-in to having their likeness featured in the game, but seeing the series' former popularity and the significant excitement surrounding the coming game, many college football athletes may jump at the opportunity to see themselves represented on their Xboxes and PlayStations. But, this is just speculation, and only time will tell how many players ultimately agree to participate.

Similar to the series' former games, College Football 24 will reportedly feature a dynasty mode, in which players can manage a college's football program and attempt to make it the country's top team. This mode allows the player to oversee a program's recruitment efforts and player development, as well as lead the team to victory on the field.

Thanks to EA Sports' decades of experience in developing the Madden franchise, College Football 24 is expected to have impressive gameplay right off the bat. College football fans have good reason to be excited for this summer.
