Developer Techland has released Update 1.12.2 for the PC version of its open-world zombie action RPG Dying Light 2. The studio says it will release the update on Dying Light 2's console versions in the next few weeks.

Released last year, Dying Light 2 sees players parkouring across the zombie-invested city of Villedor, one of the last remaining centers of human civilization. Protagonist Aiden arrives in the city searching for information on his sister Mia. However, he is drawn into the conflict between the militaristic Peacekeepers, the freedom-loving Survivors, and the violent Renegades. Dying Light 2 saw mixed reviews, with critics praising the writing and open world, but finding the stealth underwhelming and the nighttime zombie attacks less dangerous than in the first game. The PC and Series X/S versions have a Metacritic score of 77, with the PS5 version scoring 76.

Dying Light 2's Update 1.12.2 is a small hotfix focused on bug fixes. It also adds a new 100 DL Point pack to the in-game store. However, the company also updated its end-user license agreement regarding Dying Light 2 mods. The new rules specify that Dying Light 2 players may create, use, and distribute mods as long as they conform to Techland's Mod Policy. The policy includes only distributing mods through Techland's approved platform. The policy also states that, while Techland does not claim ownership over Dying Light 2 mods, creating mods gives Techland a license to use the mods however the company wishes.

Update 1.12.2's patch notes list eight main fixes, six of which apply to all platforms. This includes fixing the stuttering Dying Light 2 players experienced on the City Alignment menu and when examining Tools in the Invert. Techland also fixed the stuttering and removed unwanted pop-ups when the players adjusted Gamma settings and solved the problem with Dying Light 2 freezing on the "Community Maps" menu. Developers also fixed a graphical glitch when players install mods on the Mercenary Machete. Finally, for the cross-platform updates, Techland removed an exploit where players get a duplicate inhibitor after defeating a GRE Anomaly in Dying Light 2's co-op.

The last two listed fixes only apply to Dying Light 2 on the PS4 and PS4 Pro, and both relate to performance and stability. Developers fixed a problem that caused crashes when PS4 and PS4 Pro players attempted to load an old save. Techland also fixed the performance issues that players encountered when skipping Dying Light 2's prologue from the Pause Menu.

Dying Light 2 is out now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, with a Switch version in development.

EULA Changes

We've made a few changes to our EULA related to mods, which should make the rules more clear for our modding community. We've removed "mods" from the "Cheating" section, and introduced a new paragraph in section 17. "User Generated Content": "You may create and distribute mods for the Program, as long as your mods comply with the Techland Mod Policy. Techland Mod Policy is available at https://techland.net/upload/Techland_Modpolicy.pdf"

So make sure to check these changes out! You will need to agree to the updated EULA when logging into the game after the hotfix.
