February is shaping up to be a landmark month for highly anticipated games this year, with the recent launch of Dying Light 2 Stay Human making a large contribution to it. Easter eggs have been found related to other titles that prominently feature zombies, a difficult nighttime mod has been reprised from Dying Light, and players are making their way through Dying Light 2's supposed 500 hours of content.

Many comparisons have been made between Dying Light and its sequel now that it has released, such as the length of their main stories and the similarities between their parkour gameplay. Dying Light's all-time concurrent player count reached 45,876. While admirable, its sequel's statistics have since eclipsed its predecessor's within a miniscule fraction of its own life-cycle. Recent statistics from the Steam database demonstrates how immensely popular Dying Light 2's launch has been.

Dying Light 2 currently sits as Steam's 4th most played game with regard to current, 24-hour peak, and all-time peak player counts. Respectively, Dying Light 2's Steam statistics at the time of this writing show that there are 188,472 current players, a 24-hour peak of 271,631, and an all-time peak of 274,983. These stats are remarkable, particularly because Dying Light 2 has only been out for three days.

Dying Light 2 is succeeded on Steam by PUBG: Battlegrounds at 3rd, Dota 2 at 2nd, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive at 1st. Rather, the Steam titles that Dying Light 2 has narrowly dethroned are Apex Legends, which features a higher all-time peak of 330,879 at 5th, Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel at 6th, and Grand Theft Auto 5 at 7th. Further, these are only numbers to represent Dying Light 2's success on Steam; it is undetermined how well it has done so far on console platforms, but these stats are impressive nonetheless as they compare to other heavy-hitters on Steam.

Techland's open-world zombie game is said to receive support for 5 years post-launch. It is unclear if the previously reported 500 hours of content are attributed to this content rollout or if that content is already included in the base game. Regardless, Dying Light 2's shelf-life may be extremely long, and it will be exciting to see if its concurrent player counts will continue to risk or peak once it has moved a bit farther from its launch date.

Dying Light 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
