Post-apocalyptic worlds often fall back on the trope that humans, when surrounded by monsters, can become the monsters themselves. Dying Light 2 is one of the most extreme examples of this, frequently testing how many times players can forgive horrifying acts.

Jack and Joe have been holding the bazaar hostage by controlling the entire water supply. When things go south, they put bombs on the water tower with the intent to blow it up should their demands go unheeded. Aiden defuses the bombs, but what happens afterward is entirely in the hands of the Dying Light 2 enthusiasts.

If Aiden Helps Jack And Joe

Dying Light 2 Deciding Whether To Help Jack And Joe Or Not

Helping Jack and Joe is purely an act of kindness on Aiden's part. The two characters are sympathetic in their struggles but not how they've chosen to go about their business. Immediately, while they are still suspicious, they will let Aiden take control of the water tower.

Later on, Aiden will get a side mission to keep the promise he makes and help Jack and Joe into the next area. The rewards aren't significant, but the quick burst of combat experience and parkour experience incentivizes players to do as many missions as possible.

If Aiden Refuses To Help Jack And Joe

Declining to help Jack and Joe goes about as predicted. They attempt to blow up the water tower, not realizing that Aiden has disabled their devices (although he was pretty explicit about that part earlier in the conversation). This triggers an immediate double boss fight.

The boss fight might be scary, since there are two of them, but don't expect anything out of the ordinary. They behave just like the bandits from earlier encounters, they've just got a little bit more health than those other NPCs. Kill them both and it's all over.

More important than the rewards, this decision is largely one based on role-playing. Does the player envision Aiden as more of a ruthless survivor or a man who will take care of everyone's problems? Stepping into the shoes of either role is acceptable, it comes down to preference.

Dying Light 2 was released on February 4th, 2022, and is available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
