After a period of near-total silence about Dying Light 2, the gaming community is finally getting a few new details. There still isn't word on just when Techland is going to release its latest project, however, there are whispers it could be coming sooner than fans of the first game expected. New details about Dying Light 2 emerged earlier this week, and along with them came some more info about one particular faction that could be front and center of the new game. The Peacekeepers look to be a powerful force in the second game of the series. One reason why they will likely be so powerful is that they don't exactly live up to their name.

In the world of Dying Light 2, safety is hard to come by. Those that are looking for a little structure in their lives are likely going to want to join one of the factions that have popped up after the outbreak. One of the most powerful factions in the area is indeed the Peacekeepers. However, they haven't earned that name by being a collective of pacifists. Instead, this group has found that peace through intimidation and strength as the best way to keep everyone in line.

Meet The Militia In Dying Light 2

The Peacekeepers in Dying Light 2 might surprise visitors to the zombie-plagued area, both because of the size of its force, and how well organized they are. By post-apocalyptic standards, they are surprisingly professional. They even have uniforms that make it that much easier to identify one of their group. Interestingly, this militia unit eschewed a camouflage look, perhaps because they know that's not all that useful in the middle of an urban area. Instead, they stand out with their blue and white garb.

While their uniforms might give them a kind of flashy look, it turns out the Peacekeepers aren't just pomp and circumstance. The group have experts in just about any weapon available in Dying Light 2. They're also quite a bit more organized than some of the other groups players will run across. That's especially true when talking about the bandits. While those outlaws might band together every now and then, they're hardly a unit in the same way the Peacekeepers are.

Dying Light 2's Peacekeepers Have Distinct Units

As of now, the Dying Light 2 Peacekeepers have three known separate and distinct kinds of soldiers that make up their ranks. Each of those types of soldiers don't operate on their own: True to the organized and well-trained characteristics of this army, the three types work with one another in order to better emphasize the strength of the entire group.

The Man-At-Arms units are equipped with head protection and a one-handed melee weapon. While that might sound the most basic of soldiers, it turns out that they are actually few and far between in Dying Light 2. That could be because they are so well trained with that melee weapon that they've reached a special class in the Peacekeepers. Lawkeeper units appear to be similar to the Man-At-Arms, but they sometimes don't wear helmets and use two-handed melee weapons instead. The Guardian units are similar to what players might call "Tanks" in other games. They're heavily armored but aren't built for offense. Instead, their body-length shields allow the Guardians to take quite a bit of damage while serving as a kind of decoy when enemies emerge.

Dying Light 2 is in development for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
