The hype for Dying Light 2: Stay Human has died down a little since it released at the start of last month, but there are still plenty of people playing the long-awaited sequel, and the studio is only too keen to keep it updated. With Techland hinting at some DLC which will 'surprise' players, the future of the open world zombie title seems like it's in good hands. On top of that, fans have been on the lookout for some tweaks to the main game, and it looks as though people's prayers are about to be answered.
According to a recent interview over on Game Informer, Techland's "five-year plan" means that Dying Light 2 is not done by a long shot. As well as some expansions in the works, lead designer for the game, Tymon Smektała, has discussed the requests that many have had. Of the extras that the fan base seemingly wish to see be incorporated into this latest release, there are some aspects that the studio is looking to implement.
For example, one rumor that's been bandied around lately is the idea of a New Game Plus mode in Dying Light 2. Smektała confirms that this is being worked on by the team. As well as this, there's also a Photo Mode which is going to be added, alongside some new difficulty tiers. The designer is not forthcoming about when these new ideas will be rolling out, but he does insist that people will start seeing these new updates "very soon," which implies that players won't have to wait too long.
Despite being hotly-anticipated these past few years, some criticized Dying Light 2 for its weak and short main storyline, as well as its "poorly-written characters." As a result, it's not surprising that those who are still playing have been hoping for some extra content to really flesh out the world more or add new ideas. While there is already DLC, this is cosmetic, and it's ideally some mission add-ons that the community is after.
With Techland releasing an update that fixes a lot of the game's problems, the next step, it seems, is to continue to improve on the formula. While the game has been generally praised, many have been left a little underwhelmed. The promise of some interesting story-based DLC, a Photo Mode, New Game Plus, as well as introducing new difficulties is definitely a step forward and is one way that the studio can ensure its zombie sequel remains in tip-top shape.
