Dying Light 2: Stay Human has been one of the most anticipated zombie games of this generation, with just over seven years elapsing between the original from 2015 and the sequel. With Techland's lead designer keen to support the new game for five more years, it's evident that the developer wants to make sure this latest entry stays afloat, especially in an era in which zombie games are no longer truly in vogue. As a result, a new update was unveiled recently, which implemented numerous changes and bug fixes, but it's also done something that fans don't seem happy about.
According to the official Dying Light 2 Twitter page, the team has received a lot of feedback since the latest patch, and although there were a lot of things detailed in the notes, one aspect that was seemingly missing was the changes that were made to the Korek Charm. As a result, the studio has said that it will adjust it once more in future updates, despite the fact that the item in question is considered an Easter Egg.
For those who don't know, Dying Light 2's Korek Charm is a rare item that allows a player to repair a weapon's durability. When applied, it restores it to up to 500 points, and can also be used repeatedly, making it possible for fans to keep using a specific weapon indefinitely, without worrying too much about it wearing out. Since the 1.2.0 patch, it's been noted that the charm now only repairs up to 300 points. It also now allegedly costs 666 scrap to craft. According to lead designer, Tymon Smektała, the change was implemented without their knowledge, agreeing that it had been "nerfed."
The significant patch for Dying Light 2 was intended to fix the infamous "deathloop" bug, which caused untold misery for players as it broke the main game. On top of this, it also brought with it some changes to the night mode, making it more challenging, as well as improving combat, and making the ragdoll effects look more natural.
It's clear that the developer is not done with updating the game by a long shot. With a possible New Game Plus mode for Dying Light 2 in the works, the studio's words on supporting the game for many years are coming to fruition. But of course, it's only been out for a few weeks. No doubt fans who use the Korek charm will be holding out for a patch to bring it back to how it was.
