One of the quirkiest side quests in Dying Light 2 has players meet a "Fish Monk." Despite the standard process of talking to someone and getting a mission from them, players will find that after the Fish Monk is done talking to them, he's still listed as a quest giver and yet no quest has been assigned.

So what gives? Is he glitched or broken? Is the quest to be named later? Actually, the answer is much more simple than any of these overreactions. Dying Light 2 is having a bit of fun at the expense of the player but thankfully persistent minds have figured out how to complete his mission.

Where To Find The Fish Monk

Those who have captured the Alder Windmill already thankfully don't have too far to go. The Fish Monk is just northeast of that location. When he's available, he'll have an exclamation mark on the map indicating that he's available to speak to.

He's next to a shack containing a vendor and sitting on a bench. He never gets up or moves around, so there is no worry that players have about losing sight of him. He's also in a safety zone, so there shouldn't be any concern about zombies killing him and failing the mission.

Do Not Click The White Dialogue Options

Among the many fixes that the game needs, some fans might think that more options are needed on the dialogue wheel. Others are pushing for less dialogue and more action. In this particular instance, fewer options would have greatly simplified this mission.

In most cases, white dialogue options ask for more information, but for whatever reason, with the Fish Monk, it has Aiden chastise the poor man and ends the conversation. Don't worry, the mission doesn't fail, but the conversation does have to start over.

Listen To His Tale

From here, it's all smooth sailing. Gamers only need to ask the Fish Monk more questions with the yellow dialogue options. It's a long and emotional tale about a man, his fish, his feelings, and what he's learned about the world around him.

The conversation and the mission are one and the same. The only thing players need to do is listen the whole way through and progress to the next stage. What sounds like a natural revenge mission is actually a mission about listening and learning.

Dying Light 2 was released on February 4th, 2022, and is available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
