Don't expect to play through Dying Light 2 and remain neutral. The concept of staying out of conflicts works in most actual situations but where there are hungry zombies, murderous bandits, and evil overlords, it's not really realistic to not take sides in these fights.

However, there is a moment in Dying Light 2 where Aiden comes across a few people fighting about shampoo. One makes a good point that bad hygiene can lead to death in these conditions. The other also makes a good point about how water is a valuable scarcity. With particular choices, Aiden can make both sides happy.

First Dialogue Choice

Dying Light 2 Choosing To Reach An Agreement With Shampoo
  • Select: "I'm sure you can reach an agreement."

This conversation is actually an entire sidequest called "The Water Fight." Smooth-talking Aiden can resolve the issue in this first conversation and complete the quest for some easy and fast parkour experience and combat experience, so it's wise to choose Aiden's words carefully.

The first dialogue choice clearly takes a side in the conflict, pointing out that it might not always rain. It's not particularly helpful since the concern about the wasted resources would play an even larger part at that point. Keep the debate going by asking for the two to make an arrangement.

Second Dialogue Choice

Dying Light 2 Suggesting A Plant Based Soap
  • Select: "Try using plant-based soap."

After the two further make their issues known, Aiden can once again come down hard on a side or suggest a reasonable compromise. Compromise might be the wrong word since that would imply that both parties give something up. But Aiden can make winners of all parties.

The first choice, saying that hygiene gets priority over water consumption and plant food, is the wrong way to go about it. It's basically telling them both to cut back on eating and drinking although they are already hungry and thirsty.

The second choice is the better alternative, since using plant-based soap can keep their hair clean and the plants watered, alive, and fed. Aiden might have a future creating post-apocalyptic ecosystems after resolving this issue!

Dying Light 2 was released on February 4th, 2022, and is available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
