Sometimes video games give players a few suspects and ask them to find the culprit. Dying Light 2 takes this to a totally new level. There is a mission to track down a flour thief and the list of suspects starts as one person and then explodes to encompass the entire population of Villedor.
There is a definitive answer to who stole the flour and Aiden is able to implicate the wrong person, so it's worth studying up first before delivering a final answer. Somebody has to pay for their crimes. Play the wrong cards and that person might even be Aiden himself.
Taking The White Dialogue Options
Sometimes the white dialogue options are merely for taste but, when solving this mystery, Aiden will learn valuable information with these "optional" choices. If players fail to take these before the yellow dialogue options, they won't know the extent of the suspect or get a good lead.
Theresa and Anna both have their ideas about who stole the flour, so speak to them both. Then, follow the prompts and speak to Dodger. Aiden will then investigate two storage facilities and meet both Dodger and Teresa's son. There are several scuffles and a full-on zombie brawl, so have the ideal combat abilities ready to go.
Identifying Teresa
Finally, Aiden will track down Teresa's son after being assaulted. But after a brief discussion, it becomes clear that something isn't right. The boy is aggressive enough and in unbelievable debt, but despite both the motive and the opportunity, he's not smart enough to execute a robbery.
So who put him up to it? It was his mother, Teresa, the one who had her flour "stolen" from her in the first place. She framed her best friend and had her son do the dirty work. At this point, if players are feeling less than charitable toward her, that can be totally understandable.
The Aftermath (Happy Ending?)
From here, there are a few different endings. Aiden can turn the two into Carl, leading to a likely execution. Or he can tell Dodger the location of the flour, which will leave them destitute. Gamers looking to give even crooks better than they deserve can provide a more amicable solution.
There is a way to make the entire problem go away. Talk to Dodger and he'll challenge Aiden to get a flag from on top of a building. If players fail to do that, it's not over, Aiden can pay 200 coins and absolve the debt. it's not the best way to get rich in a hurry, but it's a good backup plan for those who lack the necessary parkour skills.
To take this happy ending even further, Aiden can have Teresa apologize to Anna, then talk to Anna and salvage the friendship.
Dying Light 2 was released on February 4th, 2022, and is available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
