Dying Light 2 has always given fans a lot of melee weapons to fight its various hordes of zombies and human enemies, yet the game was never designed for firearms. Combined with its 2nd-anniversary celebrations, Dying Light 2's new Firearms Update is a big deal for longtime fans as a much-requested feature and the game's biggest update yet. However, that doesn't mean it's becoming a shooter game. Dying Light 2 remains melee-focused but with additional firearm gameplay, as its Firearms Update launches alongside the game's Reloaded Edition on February 22.

Players keen to step into Villedor armed with one of these new weapons may be eager to hear more about its various types of guns. Dying Light 2's Firearms Update includes several different types of guns, plus the prospect of more firearms in the future. In addition to guns, the Firearms Update gives players roughly 8-10 hours of brand-new, additional content.

Guns In Dying Light 2’s Firearms Update

The Firearms Update includes four firearm types, as listed below, expanding the roster of weapons in Dying Light 2:

  • Pistols
  • SMGs
  • Rifles
  • Shotguns

There will be variants of these weapons, of course, that adjust their damage output, their special effects, and things of that nature. Franchise director Tymon Smektala also talked about the Update as their "first shot," adding that Techland will continuously look at firearm functionalities and add new ones while listening to player feedback. The addition of guns in Dying Light 2 is also guided by a new narrative and questline that will explain their newfound presence in Villedor.
