Dying Light 2 releases in just a little over a week, and so developer Techland has spent the past few weeks really selling the game to anyone who may be on the fence. Tons of details, including how long it takes to beat Dying Light 2’s campaign as well as its overall 500 hours worth of content if doing every single thing, have been revealed, and that train keeps on going.

Posting to social media, Techland has revealed the DLC roadmap for Dying Light 2. It only goes through June right now, but that still provides fans with plenty of information for now. It’s likely more roadmaps will come down the road, as Techland recently commented that Dying Light 2 would receive 5+ years of support. It’ll be interesting to see how that unfolds, especially given how active Techland intends to be with these first few months.

Per the Dying Light 2 roadmap (as seen below), there will be Factions-inspired free DLC available around launch, with two new sets of challenges coming out in March and May. In April, it seems there will be a new series of events added to the game, with the roadmap drawing attention Mutated Infected. That sounds interesting already, and it’s likely to build on something from the base game. Rounding out the current roadmap in June is the first major story DLC.

The icon for Dying Light 2’s first DLC shows someone with a spear fighting off zombies, but how much that represents that DLC remains to be seen for now. Beyond that, this roadmap confirms a second story DLC, new weapons, new stories, new events, and overall new free and paid DLCs over the next five years. How space out this DLC will be over the next five years isn’t mentioned, but it does seem Techland is going all in with this title.

For many, the big draw may be the story DLC for Dying Light 2. Dying Light: The Following received generally favorable reviews when it released for the first game, and it really expanded the lore and world. Its canon ending, for example, is likely why the world of Dying Light 2 is in such a state. It’s uncertain if the story DLC will be as large as The Following, but it’s all promising for the future of Dying Light 2 nonetheless.

Dying Light 2 releases on February 4, 2022, for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. A Switch version is also in development.
