Game development studio, Techland, has recently disclosed that its long-awaited open-world shooter game, Dying Light 2, reached a significant sales milestone in its first month on store shelves. Despite releasing during a busy schedule of high-quality game releases, Dying Light 2 sold 5 million units during its launch month of February and is finding more success in the months since release.

After multiple years of delay, Techland’s zombie thriller was released in early February and became a hit with fans, ranking high on Steam's list of most played games. Dying Light 2 was met with favorable reviews across multiple outlets, and fans were pleased to see more of the great parkour mechanics and combat that made the first Dying Light so successful. However, with other high-anticipated games releasing in February, including Horizon Forbidden West and Elden Ring, many fans wondered how Dying Light 2 would compare against them in such a packed month.

Throughout the years, Techland has proven itself as a development studio that will support its games for many years after launch; Dying Light 2 will be no different. The original Dying Light received a steady stream of DLC up until the end of 2021 as Techland shifted towards Dying Light 2’s release. Even then, a next-gen update for Dying Light has recently been released despite its sequel taking up the time of many fans. For players waiting to see what new content Techland has in store this week for Dying Light 2, it will likely be the highly requested New Game Plus mode.

With sales figures topping 5 million units in the first month, it is safe to say that Dying Light 2 has been a great success for Techland. The original Dying Light reported a healthy 3.2 million players during its first month, making Dying Light 2’s sales numbers even more impressive and showcasing how the franchise is reaching a wider audience. Dying Light 2 is a five-year game, as stated by Techland, and with more content on the way soon in the form of updates and DLCs, there will be plenty for fans to sink their teeth into as they jump back into the game or take in Villedor's sights for the first time.
