Dwayne Johnson surprised fans at a small advanced screening of the upcoming DCEU film Black Adam (in which Johnson plays the titular anti-hero and long-time nemesis to Shazam) over the weekend. The larger-than-life star also teased that the second trailer for the movie will be released sometime this week.

Hype for Black Adam has been slowly building as the October release date draws near and up until now, there has only been a short glimpse of what to expect from the film. However, the promise of a new Black Adam trailer has fans of the actor and DC excited for what's to come.

At the end of the small test screening for Black Adam, directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and written by Adam Sztykiel, Rory Haines, and Sohrab Noshirvani, Johnson surprised the audience by appearing to talk about the film, ask and answer questions and get some feedback on the movie's ending. The shocked audience screamed and cried clearly overwhelmed at seeing one of their heroes in the flesh. The short video sees Johnson receiving feedback, especially about the ending, which one viewer stated "was their favorite part." Johnson ends the Q and A by stating that "this is really special to me."

The film sees Black Adam released after 5000 years of imprisonment where his questionable methods for achieving justice and heavy-handed actions draw members of the Justice Society of America to try and either stop him or teach him a better way. Along the way, Black Adam and the JSA must team up to fight against a foe even more powerful than Black Adam. Starring alongside Johnson is Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Sarah Shahi as Isis, Marwan Kenzari as Sabbac, and Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate.

After a long and shaky road to the theater, Black Adam is on track to release in October despite the numerous scheduling shifts that have occurred at Warner Bros. Discovery since their April merger and the hiring of new CEO David Zaslav. The film is part of what executives hope will be a revamp of the DCEU, which also includes Shazam! Fury of The Gods, Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom, Blue Beetle, and the perpetually embattled The Flash solo venture.

Black Adam is now the only DC film being released from the studio this year, with Shazam! Fury of The Gods now pushed back until March 17, 2023. The Flash is currently still set for a June 23, 2023, release.

Black Adam comes to theaters on October 21, 2022.
