Dwayne Johnson has successfully spun off the Fast and Furious franchise with Hobbs and Shaw. Now that there's a sequel to that film in the works, the wrestler-turned-actor is tipping people off that this offshoot is likely to end with Hobbs and Shaw 2.

Both Dwayne Johnson's Hobbs and Jason Statham's Shaw first made their appearances in the Fast and Furious franchise, but the characters got their own movie in 2019. Considering how many movies have been produced in the main Fast and Furious franchise, there are some out there who wondered whether the spinoff could also yield multiple installments.

However, during an interview with Sirius XM, the action star made it clear that he'd like Hobbs and Shaw 2 to be a movie where the characters walk off into the sunset. When asked about where the production was for Hobbs and Shaw 2, Johnson said that he had a very good idea for what he wanted to do in the new film. He added that he'd already run it by all the people who would be in charge of the production and they were on board. He stated that believes he has an opportunity to create a movie within the Fast and Furious universe that goes against the grain.

Explaining that the next film in this particular series would be the "antithesis" of what the Fast and Furious movies are, it would allow him to basically retire his character. However, Johnson is keeping things rather mum as far as just how they would end up pulling that off. He's also not divulging just when this film might even go into production.

In explaining why there's some question as to when the work on the movie will start, the actor explained that he tends to go by the "Moses Method." This method means that in order for his focus to be on a project, it has to be good enough to push all other projects to the side. Johnson said he's had several of those Moses projects come up recently.

One of those projects, in particular, is having a direct impact on when the movie that could signal an official end to Johnson participating in the Fast and Furious universe might begin production. The actor said that Chris Morgan needs to be the screenwriter for Hobbs and Shaw 2. However, Morgan is also working on another film Johnson is starring in called Red One. Before they return to work on the Fast and Furious spinoff, Red One needs to be finished.

Hobbs and Shaw 2 is currently in development.
