Throughout late 2019 and the first half of 2020, Dungeons and Dragons adventures and campaign settings have taken players across many planes. The Guildmaster's Guide to Ravnica and Mythic Odysseys of Theros set the stage for campaigns on Magic: The Gathering inspired planes, while the Explorer's Guide to Wildemount allowed Critical Role fans to start their own Exandria adventures at home. Players itching for a return to the Forgotten Realms will be happy to learn that the just announced Dungeons and Dragons - Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden is set to bring a horror-themed adventure to one of the Forgotten Realms' most iconic and deadly locations.

Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden was announced during the DnD Live 2020 event, but Game ZXC had a chance to learn some extra details ahead of time at a press event with Dungeons and Dragons. The level 1-12 scaled adventure takes inspiration from modern horror films like The Thing and The Shining and explores themes of isolation and paranoia in a wintery setting that was originally made famous by Drizzt and his party of allies.
