Wulfgar the adopted son of Bruenor Battlehammer is among Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance's four playable characters. A strong and fiery barbarian, Wulfgar is a hero of Icewind Dale that brought about Kessel's downfall alongside his friends. Even though the Crystal Shard has vanished, evil encroaches upon Ten-Towns forcing Wulfgar to rise to the occasion once again.
Wulfgar's strength and passion have no equal, yet he will require much more to combat the Dark Alliance's forces. Chiefly his gear has seen far too many battles and is no longer adequate for the battle ahead. Luckily, Icewind Dale holds numerous sets of armor for Wulfgar to utilize. Some, however, greatly exceed the capabilities of the rest, enhancing his fortitude immensely.
8 Cold Resistance
- 3 Pieces Bonus: 30% Resistance to Cold Damage
- 5 Pieces Bonus: 50% Resistance to Cold Damage
- 8 Pieces Bonus: 2% Chance to release a Cold Burst when hit. This deals Cold Damage and carries the possibility of freezing enemies.
The Cold Resistance Armor Set grants Wulfgar additional Cold Resistance, as well as the chance to unleash a Cold Burst. These buffs allow him to endure throughout the campaign, but are especially useful early on.
Icewind Dale possesses numerous environmental hazards and enemies capable of dealing crippling cold damage. These threats prove to be overwhelming to new players and experienced ones alike, as they can inflict the Frozen Condition. Being able to endure these dangers allows Wulfgar to progress with little difficulty. Moreover, upon taking damage, Wulfgar can unleash the same debilitating force with the cold burst, and take advantage of vulnerable foes.
7 Corsair's Panache
- 3 Pieces Bonus: 10% Bonus to Damage against Elite enemies
- 5 Pieces Bonus: 15% Bonus to Damage against Elite enemies
- 8 Pieces Bonus: 50% Chance of dropping Healing, Stamina, or Ultimate Fragments upon dealing a Critical Hit on an Elite enemy
The Corsair's Panache Armor Set provides Wulfgar an overwhelming advantage against Elite enemies, variants of normal foes that possess phenomenal capabilities. With this set, he can easily overtake the Dark Alliance's more challenging forces.
Wulfgar will encounter Elites throughout the campaign and without proper preparation, he will suffer immensely. This set, however, grants him innumerable benefits against Elite enemies, diminishing them to the level of lesser foes. Additionally, the set offers Wulfgar a chance to recoup from these encounters without the need for consumables.
6 Blacksmith's Apprentice
- 3 Pieces Bonus: 5% Reduction to Enemy Damage
- 5 Pieces Bonus: 10% Reduction to Enemy Damage
- 8 Pieces Bonus: Wulfgar gains Frenzy upon reaching 40% HP or lower
The Blacksmith's Apprentice Armor Set grants Wulfgar Frenzy in dire situations, as well as providing Damage Resistance. As unyielding as he may be, Wulfgar will still occasionally encounter unfavorable odds that can easily overpower him.
Unlike his allies, Wulfgar favors aggression over level-headed assaults. While this seems like a mindless strategy, it benefits this bloodthirsty barbarian greatly. Wulfgar's Ability, Primal Instinct, provides him both a damage and armor boost, making him a nearly unstoppable berserker. In conjunction with this Armor Set, he could not only recoup from overwhelming circumstances, but annihilate his attackers as well.
5 Tundra Trapper
- 3 Pieces Bonus: 5% Chance for enemies to drop Health Fragments on death
- 5 Pieces Bonus: 10% Chance for enemies to drop Health Fragments on death
- 8 Pieces Bonus: 20% Chance for Critical Hits to grant Wulfgar Powerful Stikes
The Tundra Trapper Armor Set provides Wulfgar Powerful Strikes and a chance to receive Health Fragments. This allows him to preserve Health Potions, ultimately increasing his survivability.
Even though Wulfgar can definitely sustain hits and dish them out, having this buffer aids him greatly. While low HP grants him incredible benefits, he should be equally as capable without them. Therefore, maximizing Wulfgar's offensive and defensive capabilities allows him to be formidable at any stage. This set also adds to his existing low HP buffs, making him an indomitable force against the Dark Alliance.
4 Flag Bearer
- 3 Pieces Bonus: 4% Chance to drop Ultimate Fragments from Critical Hits
- 5 Pieces Bonus: 8% Chance to drop Ultimate Fragments from Critical Hits
- 8 Pieces Bonus: Executions inflict Frightened to nearby enemies
The Flag Bearer Armor Set provides Wulfgar a way to inflict Frightened and a chance to gain Ultimate Fragments. He is an incredible damage dealer on his own; however, this set makes him far more effective.
Upon depleting Stamina enemies will become Exhausted. This leaves them susceptible to attacks, chiefly Executions. This Attack deals a great deal of damage with a single hit on its own, often killing most basic foes. With this set, however, Executions allow Wulfgar to impose Frightened, a petrifying condition that leaves enemies unable to move, attack, or defend. Moreover, with a chance to gain Ultimate Fragments he can easily unleash the Wrath of Tempus far more than usual.
3 Tempus Champion
- 3 Pieces Bonus: 0.2% Bonus to Physical Damage with each Combo Hit
- 5 Pieces Bonus: 0.3% Bonus to Physical Damage with each Combo Hit
- 8 Pieces Bonus: 50% Bonus to Combo Meter capacity
The Tempus Champion Armor Set grants Wulfgar immeasurable enhancements to Combos. These Attack combinations provide many benefits capable of shifting the tides of battle in his favor.
Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance's Combo system proves incredibly useful in combat. Spamming buttons limits Wulfgar and prevents him from reaching his full potential. Depending on the number of hits, Combos can grant Wulfgar Rage or charge his Ultimate Meter. With this set, Combos become far more effective and ultimately raise his damage output to immense levels.
2 Reghed Chief
- 3 Pieces Bonus: 0.1% Bonus to Legendary Meter Generation with each Hit
- 5 Pieces Bonus: 0.2% Bonus to Legendary Meter Generation with each Hit
- 8 Pieces Bonus: Wulfgar receives Health equal to 20% of the damage done during Wrath of Tempus at the end of its Duration
The Reghed Chief Armor Set provides Wulfgar improvements to his Ultimate and its recharge time. His Ultimate proves to be an effective means of overcoming unfavorable circumstances, making this set extremely useful.
Wulfgar's Ultimate, Wrath of Tempus, deals devastating damage over a widespread area. This allows him to unleash a barrage of attacks, not only clearing foes but providing him breathing room as well. It's an astounding offensive and defensive power that can be utilized in a variety of ways. With this set, Wulfgar benefits far more from Wrath of Tempus, being able to use it often and as a means of restoring Health.
1 Captive Of The Abyss
- 3 Pieces Bonus: 15% Resistance against Conditions
- 5 Pieces Bonus: 25% Resistance against Conditions
- 8 Pieces Bonus: Upon reaching 30% HP or lower Wulfgar, receives Unstoppable
The Captive of the Abyss Armor Set grants Wulfgar Resistance against Conditions, as well as the Unstoppable effect. Wulfgar, while a relentless warrior, can and will falter against the Dark Alliance's forces. By far, the most detrimental effects that enemies can impose are Conditions.
These status effects can debilitate and weaken Wulfgar, leaving him susceptible to foe's attacks. With this set, however, Wulfgar will be able to reduce the likelihood of receiving Conditions. Additionally, with Unstoppable, he is immune to Stuns, Interruptions, and falling to the ground.
