The newest supplement for Dungeons and Dragons has finally released, and with it comes a plethora of new features for players and Dungeon Masters. Tasha's Cauldron of Everything has, as the name suggests, pretty much everything. There are new subclass options, group patrons, magical tattoos, puzzles, and the hotly debated new lineage system. Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything has something for both new and old Dungeons and Dragons players, with an interesting variant cover on top of it all.

The first thing many players ask about is what new Dungeons and Dragons subclasses are included in the supplement. Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything has 30 new subclasses for players to try out. The Path of the Beast Barbarian allows players to enter a more animalistic type of rage. The Rune Knight Fighter lets players customize their weapons and armor with magical runes to enhance different attributes and skills. Nature-lovers can burn and start anew with the Circle of Wildfire Druid. Warlocks who have a fondness for the deep ocean can form a pact with The Fathomless. In addition to these and a few dozen others, the Artificer is officially introduced—something that had been only included in smaller Dungeons and Dragons supplements before this.

There is a new group patron feature that allows criminals and heroes alike to form alliances over common ground. This feature can be used by Dungeon Masters to create powerful guilds, underground criminal syndicates, or anything else they want in their game. The group patron feature includes new perks and assignments that the players can complete for the betterment of their coalition.

One popular feature that many players homebrew into their games is the inclusion of magical tattoos. These will provide players with different boons depending on the type of tattoo they wish to obtain. Tasha’s Cauldron also includes new spells, artifacts, and a hoard of puzzles for DMs to use against their players. These can easily be applied to different adventures, including the recent Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden adventure book.

The most discussed item in this supplement is the new lineage system. This effectively allows players to ignore many of the previous characteristics of races and custom create their own character. Dwarves don’t have to be physical fighters, elves don’t have to be graceful, and lizardfolk can be extremely charismatic. Many hardcore players have come out in opposition to this change, citing that it ruins what makes many of the races special. One of the biggest reasonings given for this lineage system is an attempt to move away from stereotypes, somewhat echoing the world outside of D&D. Every option in Dungeons and Dragons is ultimately up to the players and their specific Dungeon Master, so this system doesn’t have to be used at all if players don’t want it.

Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything is available now in the United States. Due to delays in shipping, the physical book release in Europe and APAC has been delayed until December 1. Any player can get this Dungeons and Dragons supplement right now digitally, and the special variant cover can only be obtained by purchasing from a local game store.
