In Media Molecule's latest game and robust creation toolkit Dreams, players are encouraged to make anything and everything they can imagine. Many of those projects since Dreams was officially released in February have been based on popular culture, recreating everything from the stairs scene in 2019's Joker to the E3 2018 gameplay demo for Sucker Punch Productions' Ghost of Tsushima, but Reddit user SelectWater has shown how successful players can be when shooting to take on real world settings.

Their post to the r/PS4Dreams subreddit Sunday shows off a dirt-swept, rocky environment one might expect to find at a desert locale like the Vasquez Rocks Natural Area Park, complete with shading and depth that are practically photorealistic. However the creation has been made with Dreams using two assets: A "Flat Rock" and "Rocky Ground," which have been replicated and bent in various ways.

In the day since SelectWater's post was uploaded, it has received over 1,700 upvotes, and they thank their commenters for "the amazing positive feedback" before pointing to a platformer game called Wilderness No.1 they posted on February 9 under their PSN name Augustair. According to their Dreams account they have created 41 things through the game, most being smaller-scale compared to projects like a recreation of Hogwarts from Harry Potter.

While Dreams has been used to create impressive games and images, Media Molecule's newest title has also been a bastion for more niche and creative purposes like games criticism. An example that stands out is a "remade" build of Red Dead Online that pokes fun at Rockstar Games' server issues.

Former Head of Sony's Worldwide Studios Shawn Layden said Dreams would change game creation upon release, and already some of those effects on the industry are being seen. Some Dreams creators have gotten jobs at development studios using the portfolio they made using their PS4.

SelectWater recommends using a Dualshock 4 controller when making 3D projects rather than a mouse and keyboard. Seeing the creation they put out makes it hard to argue with what works, and hopefully people inspired to buy the game will give the world more amazing projects like an accurate remake of Fallout 4.

Dreams is available now exclusively for the PlayStation 4.
