Pawns and allies will be far more important this time around in the upcoming Dragon's Dogma 2.

While Dragon's Dogma 2 maintains the same number of vocations as the first game, with nine for players to choose from, some of the originals that fans are familiar with are missing. Furthermore, vocations that were cut from the first game are not making an appearance here either. If DLCs will play as big of a part in this installment in the franchise as the first game did with Dark Arisen featuring Bitterblack Isle, then hope remains for additions in the aftermath of Dragon Dogma 2's launch.

Monk/Hand-To-Hand Combat

The Monk Vocation Was Cut From Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen

Cut Content/Monk Art

Taking Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen into consideration, a Monk vocation was included among original plans for the game's launch in 2012. This vocation would allow players to fight bare-handed, without requiring any weapons, making for a great spectacle during boss fights and encounters with many enemies. Since there were concerns about balance and players being left with plenty of money in-game due to the vocation's nature of not requiring a weapon, it wasn't included in the final cut.

With Dragon's Dogma 2, despite some fans anticipating a different result this time around, the Monk vocation is not featured among the sequel's nine choices. If Capcom plans to add to the vocation list in a future DLC, maybe along the likes of a Bitterblack Isle type of expansion, the Monk vocation would undoubtedly fit in and stand as a fan favorite.

Mystic Knight

Mystic Knight Vocation Was In Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen

Exploration

One of the preferred vocations in Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen, especially when entering Bitterblack Isle, is Mystic Knight, which takes a blend of the sorcerer and fighter vocations into one. This was very necessary for the aforementioned Dark Arisen setting, as many of the enemies within the region required magic attacks to be put down.

Dragon's Dogma 2: 5 Ways The Trickster Vocation Will Change Combat

The new vocation Capcom has showcased in new previews promises an innovative and unique combat experience.

Since this option has been omitted from Dragon's Dogma 2, with some of the abilities seemingly present within the Fighter vocation, fans may be hoping that a future DLC will see the Mystic Knight vocation make an appearance once again. If Capcom decides to launch an expansion just as it did the first time around, it would be a great vocation to join alongside it.

Magick Archer But With Daggers

Previews Suggest Magick Archer Players Can Only Use A Magick Bow

Thief vocation

Based on all preview footage fans have seen, the Magick Archer vocation appears to have been altered to its users only being able to wield a bow. This could stand as a huge change to the class, as players who are familiar with the first game will know that daggers could be used together with a magick bow, allowing them to get up close and physical with enemies that require it.

This could be a result of the new Wayfarer vocation, which gives players access to all vocation abilities and weapons, but with lower base stats to keep the experience balanced. While this is the case, Capcom would be doing fans a huge favor by allowing Magick Archer players to wield daggers once again, and give them more options to utilize during combat.

Necromancer

A Variety Of Enemies Could Be Useful When Brought Back To Life Against Tough Foes

Sorceror Cropped

Considering the presence of the undead in Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen and its upcoming sequel, some people might have anticipated a vocation like Necromancer or one that is similar. Summoning a group of undead for enemies to battle would most certainly come in handy in the heat of Dragon's Dogma 2's battles. With the new Trickster vocation, there may be skills or abilities that take a step close enough to a Necromancer class.

If this does not prove to be the case, seeing an addition of a Necromancer vocation would be a game changer, to say the least. Players will be able to take on combat encounters in a new way just as the developers have done with the aforementioned Trickster vocation, and add upon the necromancy ability that was present for Sorcerers in the first title.

Magick Thief/Advanced Thief

Thief Appears To Be A Renamed Strider Vocation

Thief

With what seems to be the Strider vocation from the first game but renamed to Thief, this is a vocation that focuses on fast movements and rapid slash attacks that are useful when mounting monsters. Even in Bitterblack Isle, where most enemies required magic attacks to be defeated, this vocation stood as one of the best to use.

Whilst this may still be the case with Dragon's Dogma 2, it would be fascinating to see the Thief vocation become an advanced one in the same manner as Fighter and Mystic Knight. Eliminating enemies in quick succession while being able to utilize magic would be a great spectacle that fans would love to see in a DLC.
