Capcom has finally revealed details about Dragon's Dogma 2 that fans can look forward to when it releases on March 22, 2024. The developer recently livestreamed a 15-minute video showcasing some of the new features it added to Dragon's Dogma 2.

It has been more than a year since Capcom announced it is working on Dragon's Dogma 2, but it has scarcely released information about the game ever since. As such, fans of the original 2012 game could only speculate about what the game could offer when it releases based on rumors, leaks, and what little information Capcom provides occasionally. This includes Dragon's Dogma 2 receiving an age rating from the Saudi Arabian ratings board.

Dragon's Dogma 2 Taking Inspiration from GTA 5

Capcom's upcoming action-RPG Dragon's Dogma 2 is taking at least some inspiration from Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto 5.

Thankfully, Capcom's Dragon's Dogma 2 showcase revealed many details about the game's gameplay and plot. According to the showcase's hosts, Hideaki Itsuno and Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, Dragon's Dogma 2 takes place in a world parallel to the first Dragon's Dogma game, explaining the two games' similarities. Meanwhile, the Arisen in the game will be involved in the plots of two nations - the human kingdom of Vermund and the Beastren nation of Battahl. Interestingly, the showcase revealed that the Arisen will be entangled in a power struggle for Vermund's throne, which is seemingly occupied by a false Arisen set up by Disa, Vermund's Queen Regent.

As for gameplay, the showcase revealed that Dragon's Dogma 2 would introduce a new support-focused vocation exclusive to the Arisen called "Trickster." The vocation has the Arisen wield a censer and summon illusions enemies can attack, or they can aid their Pawns in battle by buffing them with its smoke. It also showed in its later part that playing as a Beastren Arisen is possible, as evidenced by the showcase's displaying of a Beastren Arisen roaring to get a drake's attention. Elves are also present in the game, and many of them will speak in their native language, which the Arisen doesn't understand. However, having a Pawn nearby who knows Elvish can serve as their translator, allowing both parties to communicate.

Itsuno and Hirabayashi mentioned in the showcase that Dragon's Dogma 2 is in its "final adjustments" and that Capcom is releasing Dragon's Dogma 2 on March 22, 2024. As such, fans only need to wait a bit longer to play the game and face its new monsters, such as the Talos, a humanoid golem-like titan, and the headless, sickle sword-wielding Dullahan.
