Dragon's Dogma 2, the long-awaited sequel to Capcom's cult-classic RPG, is finally almost here. It has been over a decade since the release of Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, the enhanced version of the first game, so the sequel is long overdue. Thankfully, it appears the wait for Dragon's Dogma 2 will likely be worth it, as it aims to please in a multitude of ways.

Dragon's Dogma 2 will have plenty of new features to offer, as well as improved features from its predecessor. Among those features is a healthy array of monsters, both new and old. Currently, there are a total of twenty-one monsters confirmed to make an appearance in Dragon's Dogma 2. Many of these creatures made their debut in Dragon's Dogma and are now returning in Dragon's Dogma 2, but there are plenty of new monsters players will need sufficient battle prowess to face off against.

Why Dragon's Dogma 2's Classes Are One Of Its Best Selling Points

There are plenty of things to be excited about in Dragon's Dogma 2, but its various vocations are among the best features in this sequel.

Every Monster Confirmed to Carry Over From Dragon's Dogma So Far

There are fourteen monsters from Dragon's Dogma confirmed to carry over to Dragon's Dogma 2 so far. While it's unclear whether each creature will follow a different set of rules in the sequel, those who played the first game will likely still have the upper hand when battling them. Notable Dragon's Dogma monsters not currently confirmed to reappear in the sequel include the Hydra, the Wyvern, and the Cockatrice. Nevertheless, players will need to carefully choose their vocations in Dragon's Dogma 2 before facing some of these familiar foes.

  • Drake
  • Wight
  • Cyclops
  • Griffin
  • Undead
  • Skeleton
  • Ogre
  • Golem
  • Chimera
  • Saurian
  • Harpy
  • Wolf
  • Hobgoblin
  • Goblin

Dragon's Dogma 2 will see the return of several of the first game's smaller enemies, like Goblins, Hobgoblins, Wolves, Skeletons, and Undead. However, many of Dragon's Dogma's much larger monsters will also be returning. For example, the dreaded Chimera, which served as the first major encounter in Dragon's Dogma, will be back to greet players in the sequel, along with other well-known giants such as the Cyclops and the Golem.

Dragon's Dogma 2 also wouldn't be Dragon's Dogma without dragons, and that's where its Drakes come in. These powerful monsters are smaller than their Wyvern cousins, but will nonetheless keep players on their toes if they encounter one. Their affinity for Fire made them weak to Ice attacks in the first game, so the sequel's Drakes may also follow the same mechanics. There are many other creatures from Dragon's Dogma returning in Dragon's Dogma 2, but there are several new monsters confirmed to make their debut in the sequel as well.

Every New Monster Confirmed to Debut in Dragon's Dogma 2 So Far

There are seven new monsters confirmed so far for Dragon's Dogma 2, but they look to add enough variety to the original game's roster that they should feel plentiful enough. Of the new monsters making their debut in Dragon's Dogma 2, two of them appear to be bosses, while most of the rest are rather non-traditional fantasy monsters, like the Slime and the Knacker.

  • Dullahan
  • Talos
  • Knacker
  • Minotaur
  • Rattler
  • Chopper
  • Slime

Included in Dragon's Dogma 2's monster list is Talos, a bronze giant that may serve as one of the game's bosses. Talos' appearance and size are very reminiscent of Shadow of the Colossus, which means players will likely be facing a monster unlike any in the first game and will therefore need to adjust their strategy accordingly. Dullahan, a headless, sword-wielding knight, might be another of the game's bosses, as he appears to be the only one of his kind. At night, Dullahan turns into a dark mist and stalks his prey.

While only twenty-one monsters have been confirmed so far for Dragon's Dogma 2, there may be even more. The first game had different versions of each monster, and it's likely the sequel will as well. However, that much will be known once Dragon's Dogma 2 releases on March 22.
