  • RC cost is tied directly to relative level. This means the closer a pawn's level is to yours, the less it will cost to hire. Pawns at the same or lower level will usually be free.
  • RC are also the primary currency for altering the fundamental cosmetics of the Arisen and their Main Pawn.

How to Get RC in Dragon's Dogma 2

There are several ways to earn Rift Crystals in Dragon's Dogma 2. Due to the easy-to-miss nature of the notifications, many players may not even realize they are earning RC for some actions. Here are the key ways in which layers will gain Rift Crystals in DD2:

  • Interact with a Riftstone for the first time. (30 RC)
  • Send your pawns to complete DD2's Pawn Quests. (Varios RC, depends on results of quest)
  • Killing Phantom-type enemies. There is a small chance these enemy types, which only come out at night, will drop chunks of Rift Crystals. Look for the swirling white or blue masses that look like ghosts.
  • Found in treasure chests. This can be one of the better ways to find large amounts of RC. Always open treasure chests.
  • Solving the 'Riddle of Wisdom' from DD2's Sphinx. This will reward the player with 1200 RC.

Players can use Rift Crystals in two main locations: Riftstones and Pawn Guilds. There are numerous Riftstones throughout the world of Dragon's Dogma 2, but there are two Pawn Guilds that offer very different merchandise. The details will follow below:

There are dozens of Riftstones in the world of Dragon's Dogma 2. There are 23 different types of Riftstones, with each variant offering pawns with characteristics specific to that location. For example, Riftstones of Remembrance will feature pawns that you have encountered in the past.

Most of the large towns found on the map, such as Melve, feature special Riftstones that offer far more options when searching for pawns. The two main cities of Dragon's Dogma 2 feature a 'Grand Riftstone,' which allows access to all the various Riftstone types you have previously encountered, as well as the extended options found in town-based stones. In both Vernworth and Bakbattahl, the Grand Riftstone is found in the Pawn Guild.

There is a Pawn Guild in both major cites. Aside from the Grand Riftstone mentioned above, each Pawn Guild features a merchant selling items for RC. The above maps show the exact location of each Pawn Guild within their respective city.

Each Pawn Guild merchant has different items for sale. The Vernworth merchant has items that deal with altering the nature of your Main Pawn's personality, as well as the item required to alter the appearance of both the Arisen and their Main Pawn.
