The new trailer for Dragon's Dogma 2 is packed with plenty to look forward to from terrifying monsters to exciting gameplay. Capcom revealed gameplay for its long-anticipated action RPG at the PlayStation Showcase, and fans couldn't be more excited for what's to come.

The first Dragon's Dogma was released in 2012 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The game was praised by critics for its gameplay and innovative pawn system. The protagonist of Dragon's Dogma is the Arisen, who is accompanied by pawns, AI-controlled companions who aid the player character throughout their journey. Gamers could create one of their own pawns and borrow ones made by other players. Another staple of the gameplay was the ability to climb onto enemies in order to fight them.

The trailer for Dragon's Dogma 2 starts off with beautiful scenery, but soon after it jumps into action. It seems the Arisen is back, but they don't seem to remember their previous adventure. What the story will entail exactly is difficult to tell just yet. Plenty of mythical creatures show up, from the expected dragons to a gorgon and various other magical beings. The usual Dragon's Dogma gameplay elements are still present with the Arisen climbing onto enemies during battle. It seems at least some parts of the environment will be destructible or allow interactions through magic.

Capcom also promises the game will be narrative-driven and filled with plenty of choices from picking the look and vocation of the Arisen to deciding how to approach each situation. The game also teases companions who will feel so unique, players could think they're on a multiplayer adventure. Dragon's Dogma 2's website says this will be made possible by the latest technology in AI.

No doubt fans are excited to find out whether Dragon's Dogma 2 will be a worthy successor to the original. However, when exactly Capcom will release the game is not known at the moment. But considering fans have been waiting for a sequel for eleven years, a few more months' wait seems bearable.

Dragon's Dogma 2 will be released on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
