As players explore the world of Dragon's Dogma 2, they will see a variety of icons on their maps and mini-maps. While the meaning behind most of those icons is fairly obvious, there is a map marker that may leave some fans slightly confused. Specifically, players may have questions about the exclamation marks that appear on Dragon's Dogma 2's mini-map, and this guide is here to provide the answers that those players seek.

Dragon's Dogma 2: Exclamation Marks, Explained

Unlike many of the map icons in Dragon's Dogma 2, exclamation points do not mark a single type of object. Instead, exclamation marks appear when a pawn comments on something in the environment, be it a ladder, an item to be read, a Seeker's Coin, or something else entirely. Fortunately, a pawn's comments will typically provide specificity about what they have seen, allowing players to get an immediate understanding of what they should be searching for in the area.

That is not always the case, though, and Dragon's Dogma 2 players may occasionally feel as though an exclamation point is not marking anything in particular. In those situations, it is likely that the mark is designating a Seeker's Coin, a small circular item with a tendency to blend in with geographical and architectural features, or a destructible object, like a broken-down ox cart or box. Notably, the associated exclamation mark will disappear once the Seeker's Coin is collected or the indicated object is destroyed, and players should feel free to continue their adventuring once that occurs.

Destroying an object that has been marked with an exclamation point will not always yield a material or lore-based reward. Indeed, action RPG fans will frequently remove an exclamation mark from their mini-maps by smashing an object, only to discover that there was nothing inside the container. While that may eventually cause players to ignore marked destructible objects, fans that demolish them consistently may eventually be rewarded for their efforts.

It is also worth mentioning that the exclamation points that mark other types of objects can be made to disappear simply by addressing the marked object in some way, such as reading a note or opening one of Dragon's Dogma 2's locked doors. That does not hold true for ladders, though, and they will remain marked even if a player climbs them. While this phenomenon may feel a bit frustrating at times, as the continued presence of exclamation marks seems to suggest that something further is to be done, keeping ladders marked indefinitely does make it easier to navigate vertical spaces.
