Dragon’s Dogma 2’s director Hideki Itsuno has recently revealed that some of the most interesting ideas implemented in the game came up during late-night meetings. Dragon’s Dogma 2 is among the most eagerly awaited games to be released in 2024, and it seems like the developers are working hard to deliver a pretty solid experience for fans.

Originally announced last year, Dragon’s Dogma 2 had a long showcase recently, in which almost an hour of content was unveiled. The story will take place in a world parallel to the first game, and it will involve the nations of Vermund and Battahl. The gameplay will be similar to its predecessor, as gamers may participate in Shadow of the Colossus-inspired combat and explore a detailed open world.

There's a lot to unpack from Dragon's Dogma 2’s release date showcase, but one interesting detail has cast its climbing mechanics in a new light.

Now, Dragon’s Dogma 2 director Hideki Itsuno has revealed more details about the game’s development to Play magazine (via GamesRadar). According to him, the team is working very hard to create a massive open-world experience, and this process often involves very long meetings. Itsuno revealed that “we held multi-day sessions where the team came up with ideas for things that could happen in the game, and the funniest ideas were always the ones people came up with when our work kept us up late at night.” After brainstorming for so many hours, some really unconventional ideas are bound to come up, and hopefully, they may surprise fans of the franchise.

During the interview, Itsuno also clarified that he wanted to make a sequel right after the original Dragon’s Dogma came out, but was unable to. He thanked the fanbase for supporting the title for so many years and confirmed that their backing was important to make Dragon’s Dogma 2 become a reality.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 will be out in March 2024, so it’s still too early to say much about how Itsuno’s unique late-night ideas for the game will play out. However, it’s quite clear that gamers are excited about Capcom’s upcoming title. Soon after the official showcase was unveiled in November, Dragon’s Dogma 2 became one of the best sellers on Steam due to a high number of gamers pre-ordering it.

Unfortunately, Dragon’s Dogma 2 will also mark the first time that Capcom will raise its game prices in a long time. Capcom has already confirmed that Dragon’s Dogma 2 will cost $70 instead of the usual $60, and this trend is likely to continue for future releases.
