There are a number of smithing styles in Dragon's Dogma 2, and each affect your gear differently. The default Vermundian blacksmithing style offers balanced upgrades across a broader variety of stats. Meanwhile, Battahli smithing will make your equipment's damage and defense ratings much higher at the expense of also making them heavier.

Among these upgrade options is Dwarven, a style of smithing that's all about Knockdown Power. If you're trying to upgrade a Warrior in Dragon's Dogma 2, then going down this upgrade path might be the perfect thing to do. Here's how you can upgrade your gear using this smithing style.

How to Unlock Dwarven Smithing in Dragon's Dogma 2

Location of Brokkr's Smithy in Dragon's Dogma 2

Dwarven smithing is only possible once you've reached Bakbattahl. However, reaching the city is the least of your concerns, as you'll also need to finish a couple of quests along the way. This is going to take some time, and it'll lead you to some high-level areas, so make sure you're geared enough to take on the challenges that lie ahead.

Dulled Steel, Cold Forge

Sara, the apprentice blacksmith in Dragon's Dogma 2

The first order of business is to run around the castle grounds of Vermund after completing Disa's Plot and TheStolen Throne. Roam around the front of the castle until a guard named Roman approaches you. He'll give you a ceremonial sword that needs to be repaired as part of the Dulled Steel, Cold Forge quest. This will eventually lead you to the location of a master blacksmith in the neighboring country.

To reach Bakbattahl in Dragon's Dogma 2, you'll need to either finish the Feast of Deception quest first, or sneak through the border by crossing the river near the Checkpoint Rest Town. Once you arrive in the city, go to Brokkr's Smithy as indicated on the map above. From here, do the following steps:

  1. Speak with Sara, the apprentice blacksmith, when Brokkr leaves the shop.
  2. Gather 15 Glimmercoal/Glymercole.
  3. Speak with Sara again to finish the quest.

Sara and Brokkr will not give you any quests if you don't have the Regalia Sword from Roman. Make sure to speak with him first before setting off to Battahl.

Steeled Resolve, Blazing Forge

Brokkr from Dragon's Dogma 2

After completing the quest, you can speak with Brokkr' to start a new one called Steeled Resolve, Blazing Forge. It's a fairly straightforward quest that picks up where the last one left off. To complete it, do the following after accepting the quest from Brokkr:

  1. Check on Sara.
  2. Find Sara.
  3. Deliver Sara to the cave entrance.
  4. Return to the Smithy.
  5. Return to Roman in Vermund.

This short series of side quests ends with Sara learning Dwarven smithing techniques. Speak with her to upgrade your gear with improved base stats and higher Knockdown Power/Resistance than usual.

If you've entered the Unmoored World after one of the endings of Dragon's Dogma 2 without doing these side quests, you'll still be able to visit Brokkr and Sara in their shop in Bakbattahl. At this point, Sara will already know Dwarven smithing, saving you the effort of having to complete the first two side quests,
