After a long 12-year wait for the next instalment, players are now finally sinking their teeth into Dragon's Dogma 2, which puts gamers in the shoes of the Arisen as they try to fulfill their destiny as the rightful monarch and natural enemy of the dragon that appointed them the title. The game takes place in an expanded map that covers two kingdoms, one of which is very selective with who it allows in.

While players will begin their journey in the city of Vernworth, they will eventually need to venture to the other capital of Battahl, which can be a challenge to get to if you don't know how to bypass the city's security. For players wanting to pass Checkpoint Rest Town and journey to Battahl, here is all you need to know.

The Warfarer Vocation is the most versatile of character classes in Dragon's Dogma 2. Here's how to earn it for your Arisen.

How To Get To Battahl in Dragon's Dogma 2

A player using a Border Entry Permit in Dragon's Dogma 2

Battahl is a tricky city to get to, particularly in the early stages of Dragon's Dogma 2 for a number of reasons - namely the security at the Checkpoint Rest Town that divides the two kingdoms and the sheer volume of tough enemies along the road. Regardless of the passage you take to get to Battahl, players can be certain that there will be a plethora of combat challenges ahead. In regard to the gate security, players will need to fulfill one major condition to be allowed access through the gate without any issue - they will need to be Beastren.

Before players can even approach the gate and get passage to Battahl, they will first need to acquire a Border Entry Permit. This can be done naturally through completion of the game's main story quests, particularly those involving Captain Brant. To get your hands on a pass, you will need to complete the following quests:

Once you have completed these quests and the associated side objectives, Captain Brant will give you a Beastren Border Entry Permit, explaining that you will need to disguise yourself (if you are human) in order to get through - something he won't be able to help you with.

If your Arisen is Beastren, you will simply need to take the Border Entry Permit to the gate at Checkpoint Rest Town and you will be permitted to pass through and continue onto Battahl. For human players, you will need to acquire a Beastren Mask.

How To Get A Beastren Mask

Players who chose a human Arisen instead of Beastren will not be able to get through the Checkpoint Rest Town gate to Battahl alone - they will also require a Beastren Mask to disguise their true identity. Thankfully, this is easily acquired within Checkpoint Rest Town, but is a relatively expensive item.

To find and purchase a Beastren Mask, players will need to visit Ibrahim's Scrap Shop and buy one from him for 8,700 g. His shop can be found by following the main road through the town up the hill (from the town entrance) and turning right when the road ends. Head down the stairs, and you will find his shop tucked in the corner there. Once you have acquired the mask, simply go into your inventory and equip the item, then take the Border Entry Permit to the gate, and you will be allowed through.

If you wish to return to Vermund via the Checkpoint Rest Town gate, you will need to wear the Beastren Mask again to get through.

How To Sneak Into Battahl

Players looking to check out Battahl before they complete the relevant storylines - or simply want to jump ahead and see the city - are able to do so by using an alternative route to the region and its capital city. In order to do this, you will need to follow the river that hugs Checkpoint Rest Town.

Gamers looking for a challenge and a cheaper way into the city (at least, for human characters), can find the secret passage by turning left before the bridge to Checkpoint Rest Town. If you have just arrived via Ox Cart from Vernworth and are coming from within the settlement, cross the bridge and turn right, then veer to the right as you venture down the hill, until you are level with the river. From there, it is a matter of following the river around the settlement and continuing on your way.

It is worth noting though, that this path is particularly dangerous and is filled with tough enemies, including a very strong Chimera, so players should ensure they are comfortable with their vocation, level up as much as they can, and have as many Pawns at their side as possible. However, once players traverse the river, venture through Thunderclap Cave and make it to Enoa Battahl Forest, they will be on the main path to Bakbattahl city.
