Highlights

  • Swords are one of the two weapon types available to the Fighter Vocation, and one of the many
  • They offer quick and slashing attacks, excelling against unarmored enemies and helping Fighters put out some great damage.
  • This archetype has some great early game options and remains powerful in the late game

Swords in Dragon's Dogma 2 are only available to Fighters and Warfarers. Fighters are a reliable starting vocation that can provide great damage and survivability. They can choose from swords and maces as they take on the wide variety of enemies Dragon's Dogma 2 has to offer. Although maces offer some good damage against armored enemies in the late game, swords will be the more reliable option for most of the game, as there are a great deal of good swords available earlier on.

Best Dragon's Dogma 2 Mods To Try Out

There are already quite a handful of user-made mods for Dragon's Dogma 2. Here are some of the best mod options created so far.

As an early-game weapon, the Silver Rapier's stats are not the greatest, with 118 base Strength and 120 base Knockdown power. However, it is so easy to obtain and provides a good damage increase compared to other options that it still outpaces its early-game peers. This makes it a great sword to use for a good portion of the game, especially once upgraded.

5 Silver Cinquedea

A Wide And Heavy Blade For Heavy Damage

  • 235 Strength
  • 212 Knockdown

After finding their way to Bakbattahl, the first thing a Fighter will want to do is head to Awaran's Arms to get their hands on this beautiful sword. Its broad blade makes it excellent for dealing damage, and its weight gives it good stagger potential as it has 235 base Strength and 212 base Knockdown.

These features make the Silver Cinquedea one of the best mid-game swords players can find. For Fighters wanting to make exploring the world around Bakbattahl much easier, skipping this sword would definitely be a mistake.

4 Almace

Slowing And Freezing Enemies Is Incredibly Strongdragons dogma 2 almace sword

  • 162 Strength
  • 140 Knockdown
  • +120% Ice damage

When it comes to combat, the simple truth is that killing all enemies as fast as possible is usually best plan. However, sometimes being able to take a few enemies out of the fight or reduce their threat to the player is just as good, if not better. The Almace provides this, as it deals Ice damage, allowing it to slow enemies and even freeze them, on top of dealing damage. This makes it a powerful and unique option for taking on tougher enemies who cannot be killed with just a few blows.

Dragon's Dogma 2: 7 Mechanics From The First Game That Are Different In The Sequel

While Dragon's Dogma 2 is a very faithful sequel to the original Dragon's Dogma game, there are a good number of new mechanics for players to learn.

It can be bought from Celeste's Smith in Respoint Check Town, and has 162 strength, 140 knockdown, with +120% Ice damage. With a Pawn of the Mage vocation to grant another elemental effect such as a Lightning Boon, players can easily deal a lot of elemental damage. Players can also choose whether they want their Almace to deal more slashing damage with the Battahli smithing style or focus more on its Magick through Dwarven or Elven Smithing.

3 Stalwart Sword

A Reliable Late-Game Weapon With Great Physical Damage

  • 280 Strength
  • 245 Knockdown

The Stalwart Sword is one of the best weapons Fighters can get their hands on due to its 280 base Strength and 245 base Knockdown. Although it does not quite top the end-game weapons, it is a perfect holdover weapon until players can get their hands on one of those.

It may not be a flashy sword, but it is balanced well between damage and knockdown, making it powerful and adaptable to any setup. To grab it, players will want to head to the Volcanic Island Armory, or complete the 'Put a Spring in Thy Step' quest, and speak to Gautsafr.

2 Carnation

A Thin, Wlegant Blade For Slicing Up Foes

Dragon's Dogma 2: Best Weapons For Archers (& Where To Find Them)

Archers are all about dealing damage, so finding the best bow is essential for their offensive playstyle in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

This curved blade can deal excellent slashing damage at 313 strength. This can be increased up to 529 strength once upgraded to Battahli Wyrmfire. Alternatively, players can go the Dwarven route, increasing its Knockdown from 245 to 428. Either way, the Carnation is able to cut through almost anything and provide good stagger. This sword is a great weapon in the hands of Arisen and Pawn alike.

1 Dragon's Dogma

Worthy Of The Name

dragon's dogma 2 dragon's dogma sword
  • 351 Strength
  • 300 Knockdown

To share its name with the game itself, this sword would need to be special. Dragon's Dogma does this by slowly increasing its damage as the player fights. So long as they do not take damage, the sword begins hitting harder as they use it. This makes its already powerful attacks hit even harder, and cements it as the best sword in the game.

At 351 base strength, capable of increasing all the way to 587, players will definitely want to head to the Dragonforged in the Bay Wayside Shrine after the end of the game to pick it up. With this legendary blade in their hands, the Arisen or their Pawn can claim the title of the most powerful Fighter in both Vermund and Battahl.
