Once Dragon's Dogma 2 players have made it to the main city of Vermund, known as Vernworth, players can unlock two new vocations after completing a side quest. These include the Warrior and the Sorcerer. While the Warrior is great for players looking to hit hard up close, the Sorcerer is one of the greatest magic vocations in the game, which is perfect for any Arisen or Pawn to use.

Dragon's Dogma 2: Vocation Tier List (Best Vocations, Ranked)

With all the variety among Vocations in Dragon’s Dogma 2, a tier list can help players find the best one for them.

With various weapon skills for a player to unlock through both levelling up the vocation or by completing quests for the Maister of the sorcerer, these are by far the best weapon skills for Sorcerer in Dragon's Dogma 2, ranked.

8 High Flagration

An Up-close Spray Of Flames

High Flagration in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Flagration is the first weapon skill players own the second they purchase the Sorcerer vocation. This spell is also available to mages, which means players that started with this vocation are likely to be familiar with it. Flagration is a spell best suited for close-range combat. When cast, it causes a jet of fire to spray towards the player's enemy.

As players level up their Sorcerer Vocation, they will be able to upgrade this weapon skill to High Flagration, which increases the amount of damage that is done by the flames, making it even more deadly to use in a pinch.

7 High Decanter

Heal Through Magic

High Decanter in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Decanter is a weapon skill in Dragon's Dogma 2 that is perfect for players that don't want to rely on a mage or potions to heal them of their damage. While cast, Decanter saps the life force away from the player's enemy and gives them health instead. As long as the player remains still, they can continue stealing the health of another until their own is full.

Finding the best Staff for your Mage Arisen or main Pawn is the first step to creating the ultimate Support in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Upgrading this weapon skill to High Decanter increases the range in which this spell can be used, allowing the player to be a greater distance away from their quarry, as well as also increasing how quickly they heal while using it.

6 High Levin

Hit With Lightning From Above

High Levin in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Being able to use different elemental damages as a Sorcerer is one of the main reasons why a player may choose to play as this vocation. Therefore, many of the vocation's best weapon skills involve making the most fire, lighting and ice.

Levin is a lighting ability that, once cast, can hit the surrounding area of the Arisen or pawn's target repeatedly with lighting. By upgrading this skill and turning it into High Levin, players can increase the number of lightning bolts that hit the ground, as well as causing more to be summoned at the cost of their own stamina.

5 High Frigor

A Wave Of Ice

High Frigor in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Ice is another important elemental ability a player should have, with countless enemies in Dragon's Dogma 2 being vulnerable to this damage type. With the help of Frigor, players can hit a group of enemies with a wave of ice damage that is sure to either slow enemies in their tracks, or freeze them outright.

Players using Fighters or Warfarers in Dragon's Dogma 2 should seek out these swords, which are the best the game has to offer.

This is another weapon skill that can be upgraded to High Frigor once the player has leveled up the Sorcerer's vocation further, allowing this wave of cold to hit even more enemies for more damage.

4 High Seism

Eruptions Of Stone That Cause Foes To Stumble

High Seism in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Some enemies can be immune to magic in Dragon's Dogma 2, which may make a player using the Sorcerer vocation feel useless. Thankfully, there are weapon skills in place to deal with this situation.

Seism is a skill that causes bits of earth to shoot up from the ground, hitting whoever is in its tracks with physical damage. This is perfect for enemies that are immune to magic but can easily be knocked down. Purchasing High Seism will then cause this harm to affect an even wider area, allowing it to also be great to use on groups of enemies too.

3 Thundermine

Conjure A Ball Of Lightning

Thundermine in Dragon’s Dogma 2

The biggest issue with playing Sorcerer is the likelihood of being open to attacks from up close. While it may be the player's pawn's job to protect them from these situations, it doesn't hurt to have a spell like Thundermine on to protect them from such damage.

Though the Dragon's Dogma 2 microtransaction store is far from egregious, some items can be found very easily in-game and ought not be bought.

As another lightning weapon skill, players conjure a ball of lightning that unleashes bolts of its power at foes that get too close. This attack can possibly knock down smaller foes, making them susceptible to other attacks or giving the player the chance to get away. This ball will stay for a certain amount of time or until it has done a number of attacks.

2 Meteoron

A Large And Powerful Meteor Shower

Meteoron in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Unlike the other weapon skills mentioned on the list which are unlocked through levelling up the vocation, Meteoron is a weapon skill that players learn through helping a character in an optional side quest. Once the Spellbound quest has been successfully completed, players can learn this skill from a scroll and use it whenever.

Meteoron is incredibly deadly, as players have the power to summon meteors from the sky. These hit in a wide area, making it great for Drakes or groups of enemies. The only issue with this skill is it can't be rushed with Quickspell and the player is stuck in place while they cast it.

1 Maelstrom

Trap Foes In A Tornado Of Damage

Maelstrom in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Out of all the available weapon skills for Sorcerer in Dragon's Dogma 2, the best that players should get their hands on as soon as possible is Maelstrom. Like Meteoron, Maelstrom is a Sorcerer-Maister skill that players will earn through helping the Maister with his own quests.

In the Checkpoint Town, players will find the Sorcerer, who will require a certain number of tomes. Giving him these will reward the player with the weapon skill. Maelstrom casts a huge whirlwind that traps any foes in its path. While it can't be cast with Quickspell and causes the player to be stuck in place, the amount of damage this spell does is sure to end a foe quickly.
