Highlights

  • Equip a wide range of armor to specialize in resisting ice damage in Dragon's Dogma 2 for a competitive edge.
  • Prioritize ice resistance early with the Noble Jacket and Deadly Nightshade head armor to stay ahead in the game.
  • Seek out the best ice-resistant end-game body armor like Duelist's Coat and Dominator's Armor for ultimate protection.

Dragon's Dogma 2 armor system has a myriad of different resistances and resistance types that can make or break a particular item in the eyes of the player. Ice is a damage type that players will often encounter in the game world, not only causing damage, it can slow down players and possibly grant them the movement effecting debilitation Frostbite.

Dragon's Dogma 2: Best Maces, Ranked

Dragon's Dogma 2 has an abundance of weapons to choose from. For those using the Fighter vocation, these maces are worth considering.

Thankfully, if this is a particular concern for players, they can use the wide range of armor available to specialize in resisting this sort of damage. Taking into account Head Armor, Rings, Body Armor, and Leg Armor, players can use this list to be completely ready for any ice damage that comes their way.

7 Dapper Chausses

A Pleasant Accessory

Dapper Chausses leg armor
  • Ice Damage Resistance Increase: 5%
  • Defense: 83
  • Available Vocations: Archer, Thief, Mystic Spearhand, Magick Archer, Trickster, Warfarer

This leg armor offers a decent boost to Ice Damage resistance and a 10% increase to the debilitation Frostbite. The rest of the armor is fairly unremarkable with stats such as 14 knockdown resistance but, when thought of as an accessory to the main armor pieces, it does a good job.

Dapper Chausses is available at Bodas's Armory for 28,000 gold or in a chest inside of a cave called Roadside Hollow. Head to Coral Snakes' Hideout in North West Battahl to locate the cave

6 Noble Jacket

A Fantastic Early Option

Noble Jacket body armor
  • Ice Damage Resistance Increase: 10%
  • Defense: 98
  • Available Vocations: Archer, Mystic Spearhand, Magick Archer, and Warfarer

A relatively cheap piece of armor, it is available for just 19,500 gold in Bodas's Armory, but this is a very applicable early-game piece of body armor for those seeking to prioritize Ice resistance.

Alongside the 10% increase in Ice damage resistance, there is also a 20% bonus in resistance to Frostbite. This will do a great job of resisting cold damage before players gather enough coins to buy (or find) something else. When the time comes, the Noble Jacket can be sold for 6,500 gold.

5 Deadly Nightshade

Boosts to Fire and Ice Resistance

Deadly Nightshade head armor
  • Ice Damage Resistance Increase: 5%
  • Defense: 60
  • Available Vocations: Sorcerer and Warfarer

Deadly Nightshade offers up to a 5% increased resistance to both Ice and Fire damage. Alongside this, there is resistance to the condition brought on by ice damage, Frostbite, which is increased by 10%. These are very good upgrades and although only a piece of head armor, Deadly Nightshade is a piece that can be worn right to the end of the game.

Dragon's Dogma 2: 8 Weapons That Are Not Worth Enhancing

Dragon's Dogma 2 features a vast array of weapons that you can upgrade. However, these items are best left alone to save resources.

This head armor can be bought for 56,700 gold or, if players were unable to acquire it during the main game, it can be traded at Bay Wayside Shrine in exchange for 20 Wyrmslife Crystals. It is worth it for the increases in Ice and Fire resistance as well as their respective conditions.

4 Duelist's Coat

Stay On Your Feet and Don't Slow Down

Duelist's coat body armor
  • Ice Damage Resistance Increase: 10%
  • Defense: 179
  • Available Vocations: Mystic Spearhand and Warfarer

From this point onwards, all of the high-range body armor in this list will have a 10% ice damage resistance increase as well as a 20% increase in Frostbite resistance. All options from here are viable but it is important to consider the additional bonuses. Duelist's Coat offers a knockdown resistance of 50 and, therefore, will enable players to stay on their feet and not get slowed by the cold.

If playing as a Msytic Spearhand, it is the sort of armor that one would expect to find and equip near and during the endgame. As such, it can be exchanged at Bay Wayside Shrine for 20 Wyrmslife Crystals. For players looking for a good look, this is the best of ice-resistant end-game body armor.

3 Resonance Amor

Ice and Magick Defense

Resonance body armor
  • Ice Damage Resistance Increase: 10%
  • Defense: 155
  • Available Vocations: Magick Archer and Warfarer

Much of the ice damage that players will encounter will come via enemy Magick attacks. The Resonance Armor has a superior Magick defense (164) than the Duelist's Coat and, therefore, despite being a worse piece overall, it is better for resisting ice damage and Frostbite.

Available at the end game in the Bay Wayside Shrine, players should use the Elven Smithing Style to get the Magick defense up to a maximum of 259.

2 Ring of Tepidity

A Permanent Fixture

Ring of Tepidity
  • Effect: Reduce damage taken as a result of ice attacks by 25%
  • Available Vocations: All

This extremely cheap and accessible ring is a must for any player seeking to maximize their ice damage resistance. It reduces all ice damage taken by 25% and this can be combined with the right body, leg, and head armor to create a build perfectly suited to handle enemies that deal this type of damage. 25% is a major bonus that should not be snuffed at because it's a ring.

Players using Fighters or Warfarers in Dragon's Dogma 2 should seek out these swords, which are the best the game has to offer.

The ring has a 2% chance of being dropped by Undead enemies but to guarantee acquisition, it can be bought for 5000 gold from Grisha'a Armory in Sacred Arbor.

1 Dominator's Armor

Best In Class

Dominator's Armor
  • Ice Damage Resistance Increase: 10%
  • Defense: 215
  • Available Vocations: Warrior and Warfarer

This piece of body armor is not only amongst the best in resisting ice damage, but it is also one of the best in the entire game. The real benefit here is in the debilitation resistance; a 20% increase in Frostbite resistance is accompanied by a 25% increase in resistance to the following conditions: Silence, Drenched, and Tarred.

Available either via a drop from a defeated Gorechimera (17.7% chance) or for 126,000 gold from Brokkr's Smithy in the end game, this body armor is the best in class for its two respective vocations and for ice damage resistance.
