While Dragon’s Dogma 2 is not the type of game to help players every step of the way, there are some tips and tricks Arisen can follow to ensure a smoother journey throughout the gameplay.

8 Use Pawns To Complete Quests Efficiently

Pawns Will Offer A Helping "Hand"

Upon opening the Quest menu in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you will notice that some of them have a hand icon on them. These icons indicate that there is a Pawn that can help with Quests, and they are currently in your party.

When you set a Quest as a priority, and it has a hand icon on it, it means that one of the pawns will lead you to your destination. The blue hand represents the Main Pawn while the brown hands with the numbers 1 and 2 on them represent the other two pawns.

7 Use Oxcart To Travel

Enjoy The Scenery And Save Time

Although traveling physically from one area to another is more rewarding as players open more parts of the map in Dragon’s Dogma 2 and obtain more items, it’s beneficial to use an Oxcart now and then to save time. These carriages can be found in certain villages and each one has a set destination. Additionally, it doesn’t cost much to use the Oxcart, so it can also be considered cheap.

While it’s a great way to reduce traveling time, Arisens are also more likely to get ambushed by monsters, so keep that in mind.

6 Listen To Your Pawns

Sometimes It's Worth Lending An Ear

Sometimes, while traveling through the vast open land of Dragon’s Dogma 2, one of the pawns might comment on certain stuff. They could comment on a nearby hidden chest or a rare item like Seeker’s Tokens. That’s because Pawns travel beyond the Rift and help other Arisens, so they have more knowledge on certain matters.

Dragon's Dogma 2's character creator has been released prior to the full game hitting stores. Here are a few ways it could be improved.

By pressing the Go! Command, the pawn who commented, be it the Main Pawn or a normal one, will beckon players to follow them and lead the Arisen to a hidden secret.

5 Stay At An Inn/House Frequently

Don’t Rely Solely On Auto-Save

Dragon’s Dogma 2 offers two methods for saving progress, which are auto-save and manual save. The former can't be controlled and occurs every few minutes, while the latter is accessed from the main menu via the system option, or by staying at an inn.

Because the save process is very close in timing, players might get stuck in an unwanted loop. To refresh the save, head to the title screen and load the game from the last time you stayed at an inn or your home.

4 Figure Out Which Type Of Smithing You Want

You Can Mix And Match While Enhancing Equipment

types of smithing in dragons dogma 2

Four types of smithing styles help enhance equipment in Dragon Dogma’s 2, and Arisen needs to figure out which one matches their chosen Vocation. The styles are:

  • Vermundian: Basic Enhancement
  • Elven: Boost Magick and Mag Def
  • Battahli: Boost Strength and Defense
  • Wyrmfire: Greatly reduces weight and increases efficacy

For example, Vocations like Mage and Sorcerer will benefit the most from the Elven Enhancement, while Vocations like Fighter and Warrior will benefit from the Battahli. Also, keep in mind that each piece of equipment can have more than one style of smithing to have the maximum benefit from each style.

3 Seek Divination To Get Hints

Don’t Get Frustrated With The Lack Of Quest Progress

Some Quests in Dragon’s Dogma 2 are hard to complete as there’s little to no information on how to proceed. Players must simply speak with multiple NPCs around the area to gather clues and piece them together.

An easy solution to this problem is by visiting Divination shops, which are usually found in Vernworth or Battahl. Pay the 50 Gold fee to the shop owner, and you will receive a hint regarding the next step.

2 Change Pawns Frequently

Add A Variety Of Pawns For Maximum Benefit

change pawns frequently in dragons dogma 2

After creating your Main Pawn in Dragon’s Dogma 2, Arisens are free to interact with any Riftstone to get two more Pawns. It’s essential to have a variety of Pawns with different skills as it will facilitate the exploration journey as well as fighting enemies. Changing them frequently is crucial as the extra two Pawns don’t gain any EXP from traveling with you and won’t level up at all. So, it’s better to change Pawns occasionally to match the level of the Arisen.

Additionally, Pawns can also have certain skills that help the players. For example, the helper can boost Arisen into hard-to-reach areas either by using Magick or pure Strength, which is why it's best to have a variety of Vocations in the party.

1 Use A Health Potion When On The Brink Of Death

Death Is Not The End

use health to revive arisen in dragons dogma 2

After going through a difficult battle, it’s normal for unprepared players to die at the hands of the enemies. Usually, you will get asked to load the game from the last save or the last inn you stayed at. Also, if you have a Wakestone, Arisen can get another chance at life with full HP. However, there is another way to revive the character without spending any Wakestones.

Upon dying, quickly open up the items menu and use a healing potion to regain some HP and revive the character. It’s extremely crucial to act fast, otherwise Arisen will get the normal option of loading the game or using a Wakestone. You can access the items' menu through a shortcut or via the main menu.
