While they may be in the title, dragons are not the only significant threat to the Arisen and their Pawns that you will encounter in Dragon's Dogma 2. In fact, the game is brimming with mythological creatures, all hell-bent on stopping you from fulfilling your destiny as a dragon slayer and rightful person to Vermund's throne. From simple goblins to enormous Cyclops, Griffins, and even the fabled Medusa, there are plenty of challenges awaiting the Arisen to test themselves in combat and prove themselves worthy of the title bestowed on them.

In the side quest "A Case Of Sculptor's Block", which you will find in Vernworth, players are tasked with attempting to slay - or at least survive - the wrath of a particularly nasty Griffin, so an artist may sketch the beast and turn it into a sculpture. While this quest is available fairly early on in the game, it is recommended that you take some time to improve your character, as the Griffin one of the tougher challenges in Dragon's Dogma 2. Depending on how well you prepare and execute your plan, the outcome can be very positive or overtly negative. Here is everything you need to know to complete "A Case Of Sculptor's Block" in Dragon's Dogma 2.

Dealing with stamina in Dragon's Dogma 2 can be really annoying --here's how to get more.

How To Start A Case Of Sculptor's Block Quest

Klark from Dragon's Dogma 2 standing outside his estate talking to the player

"A Case Of Sculptor's Block" is a relatively easy quest to miss should you not be venturing into a particular area of Vermund's capital city of Vernworth. In saying that, it is also not a hard quest to find the starting point of. To trigger this storyline, players need only approach Klark outside his estate, which can be found in the Noble Quarter of the city, more or less in front of Rose Château Borderlie, where romance option Wilhelmina resides. Alternatively, you can just follow the road after exiting the Palace courtyards and venturing down the stairs.

You won't need to interact with Klark to trigger the dialogue with him, as he will approach you himself if you get close enough. He will go on to explain that his impressive art collection is incomplete, as he is awaiting the final sculpture that has yet to make its way to him. He asks that, should your curiosity need satisfying, you visit the artist in Bakbattahl to chase up the commissioned work.

How To Find Fulvio

Fulvio from Dragon's Dogma 2 talking to the player

In order to get to the artist, Fulvio, you will need to pass the gate at Checkpoint Rest Town into Battahl and continue on to its capital city, Bakbattahl. You can do this after completing all of Captain Brant's missions in Vernworth, or sneak around the gate of your own accord. Once in Bakbattahl, you will need to seek out Fulvio in his workshop, which is identifiable by the sculpture of the goat out the front.

Once in the workshop, Fulvio will explain his turmoil in trying to put the artwork together with no avail, as he can only sculpt subjects he has seen in real life. He asks that you accompany him to a Griffin nest, requesting that you keep the battle going as long as possible to give him enough time, or to petrify the beast so he can take his time. He sets off to the nest and agrees to wait for you there.

How To Get Medusa's Head (Petrify Weapon)

Players looking to petrify the Griffin and get the best possible outcome in "A Case of Sculptor's Block" will need to find Medusa and cut off its head. This mythological beast can be Nera’Battahl Windrift cave, in the western parts of Battahl. You can access it via the Ropeway Central Station by using the cart heading south, and you will need to find its cave, which is disguised behind some fallen trees.

To separate Medusa's head from its shoulders, you will need to focus your attack on its head, bearing in mind that this will only work with blades. Vocations like the Fighter and Thief are great options for the task, whereas magic wielders will struggle since their attacks are elemental in nature and will only damage the head. Be sure to sever the head as quickly as you can, as the creature's health determines the condition of its head. It is also worth noting that, much like food in Dragon's Dogma 2, the head will progressively rot, so take it to the Griffin nest as soon as possible.

Dragon's Dogma 2: Should You Change Vocation?

Players have the option to change their vocation, or character class, in Dragon's Dogma 2. Here is what you need to know in order to make that choice.

How To Find The Griffin's Nest

A player battling a Griffin in Dragon's Dogma 2

The Griffin's Nest is found directly east of the Enoa Battahl Forest, which is situated to the south of Checkpoint Rest Town. You can find it by venturing along the winding road to the south of Enoa Battahl Forest and taking the second left turn you find along the way. You will likely have to deal with some enemies, primarily Red Wolves and Goblins, but you should have no trouble finding Fulvio.

Once you have found him, follow Fulvio into the Griffin's nest and engage in a battle with the creature. The Griffin is one of the most formidable enemies in Dragon's Dogma 2, so ensure you have enhanced your equipment, leveled up your vocation as much as possible, and are accompanied by a full party of Pawns. If you collected Medusa's head, you can use it at any time in the battle to turn the beast to stone and assist Fulvio. If you haven't, then the key is to keep the battle going for as long as possible. When the Griffin escapes of its own accord, you will have successfully given the artist enough time for his sketch.

How To Complete "A Case Of Sculptors Block" (Both Endings)

Once the battle with the Griffin is over, players will want to return to Fulvio's workshop to check on his progress. After a few days of work, he will announce to you that he is taking his statue to Klark for an unveiling event in Vernworth and invites you to come along.

From there, travel back to the Noble Quarter in Vernworth, using a Ferrystone if you have one, and enter Klark's estate. Once inside the building, feel free to look around and loot the chests and valuables on the bottom floor. However, to see the unvieling ceremony unfold, you will need to go up the stairs and enter the door on the left side.

"A Case Of Sculptor's Block" Good Ending

The only real differences in the endings to this quest are the reactions of Klark and rewards you receive, so if you didn't manage to successfully battle the Griffin, then there aren't any significant consequences. If you used Medusa's head or carried on with the battle long enough, Klark will applaud Fulvio's efforts and praise his work. With a good ending, players will receive 4,500 XP and 14,000 G for completing the quest.

"A Case Of Sculptor's Block" Bad Ending

In contrast, if you kill the Griffin before Fulvio managed to complete his sketch, Klark is angered by the work presented and the artist is ridiculed by the attendees for the sloppy work. While your character is not blamed for the poor quality of the artwork, your rewards reflect a form of punishment for being unable to complete the quest as intended. With a bad ending, players will receive 2,250 XP and 7,000 G for completing the quest.
