Dragon Quest Builders 2 is, unsurprisingly, all about building, but the player isn't just building buildings, they're also building communities. Creating the towns of the game is a lot of work for one builder, so the recruitment of new townspeople with various skills is essential for success. Players can recruit farmers, miners, merchants, singers, dancers, soldiers, and more.

But in a game so big, navigating the many systems can get a little confusing. For players who want to get straight into building their perfect dream towns, knowing who to recruit and how to recruit them will most definitely come in handy.

7 Farmers: Blossom Bay

Dragon Quest Builders 2 Farming

The many survival features of the game are part of what makes it one of the best JRPGs in a long time. Farming is one of the first of these core concepts of Dragon Quest Builders 2 that the player will have to encounter. Growing food is vital for both the player's own survival and the happiness of the townspeople, who love having a variety of food recipes.

To recruit more farmers to the island, the player can sail to Blossom Bay, a nearby island that costs 300 gratitude points to reach. Once there, the player can explore Blossom Bay until they find a large building with an attached farm, this is where a new farmer can be found, farmers can be distinguished by their straw hats.

Simply talk to them and they will ask to join the Isle of Awakening. After they have been spoken to, they will follow the player, head back to the dock and sail home and they will become permanent residents.

6 Miners: Iridescent Island

Mining, like farming is one of the most important jobs in the game. So many of the items the player can build require metal materials, so having lots of miners gathering them will make building go so much easier.

Miners can be found on Iridescent Island, one of the first islands the player can explore after finishing the introduction on Furrowfield. Sail there from the dock on the Isle of Awakening and search for a mining community. Miners in Dragon Quest Builders 2 will be large, muscular characters wearing yellow masks. The player can talk to them and convince them to join up.

5 Merchants: Iridescent Island

Merchants are in the game to run the player's shop on their home islands. They're extremely useful, particularly if the player is trying to complete the task of selling 200 items.

Like miners, merchants can be found in the mining base on Iridescent Island. To tell which character is the merchant, look for the character who will be wearing a green and red robe and a green hat.

4 Dancers/Bartenders: Sunny Sands

Some types of townspeople are there to perform vital jobs which will allow the community on the Isle of Awakening to thrive, others are there just to make it a fun place to be.

Dancers and bartenders can provide some much-needed entertainment to the other townspeople, which will in turn increase their output of gratitude points, which allow the player to explore new islands. To recruit dancers and bartenders, sail to Sunny Sands and search for the building which will have potential townspeople around it. The dancers will be wearing pretty distinctive bunny outfits, and the bartenders will be wearing a white shirt and suspenders.

3 Soldiers: Rimey Reef

Recruiting soldiers will definitely come in handy for protecting the community from the various monsters and members of the evil religion, The Children of Hargon, which populate the game. While soldiers aren't the only type of villager who can fight, they are the best at it, so it's best to leave it to them, especially as the player can kit soldiers out with new and powerful weapons. Having plenty of soldiers will also allow the player's town to do a lot of the combat for them, which is nice considering the somewhat mediocre combat.

To recruit soldiers head to Rimy and look for the spa, which is usually placed on top of a mountain. There should be several soldiers there, each wearing a different colored variation of a horned helmet. There is only a minor difference between the colors of soldier, with red soldiers being able to cast a defence buff spell, and green soldiers being able to cast a healing spell so the player can just pick the color they like the best.

2 Nuns: Laguna Perfuma

In true RPG fashion, the Dragon Quest generally include religious characters with the ability to heal party members and Dragon Quest Builders 2 is no different, with the inclusion of nuns, a type of townsperson who can cast healing magic, but is not able to carry a weapon.

Nuns can be found at Laguna Perfuma, where they will be walking around ruins. Also walking around these ruins are elders and children, who can also be recruited should the player wish. Nuns are fairly easy to spot as they will be wearing a religious habit.

1 Bards: Unholy Holm

Like dancers, bards exist in Dragon Quest Builders 2 to entertain the residents of the Isle of Awakening to raise their gratitude points. Bards are musicians, similar to singers (who are all female musicians found in the Defiled Isle) but are all male.

To add bards to the list of residents, sail over to the Unholy Holm and look for a group of men dressed in colorful robes with feathers in their caps, these are the bards.
