For quite some time since its release, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot has safeguarded the secret of its Season Pass and DLC content. Many fans already own the DBZ: Kakarot season pass but had no idea what it would include. Thankfully, some new information has appeared online which seemingly unofficially confirms that the next piece of DLC will introduce the Gods of the Universe Arc to the game.

For those unaware, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot thus far has only adapted the story from the Dragon Ball Z anime, and has not breached into the territory of Dragon Ball Z movies, Dragon Ball: GT, or Dragon Ball Super, but thanks to an image of the large tree on Beerus' home world shared by credible reporter Dragon Ball Hype on Twitter, the future of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is less uncertain. But uncertainty remains nonetheless, as the Gods of the Universe arc tells the stories of the first two Dragon Ball Super movies (or two anime arcs) as part of the Z saga, Battle of the Gods and Resurrection F.

The first story arc of Dragon Ball Super takes place mostly on Earth in various areas which are already present in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. Aside from the possible inclusion of Beerus' planet as an exploration area, it is most likely that there will be no new areas in the rumored DBZ: Kakarot DLC. That said, a large portion of the story does take place aboard Bulma's yacht for her birthday, meaning it might be introduced as its own area.

Regarding playable characters, the roster here will probably be very similar to the Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot with the exception that Future Trunks and Vegito make no appearances in this story arc. Even still, Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Piccolo, and Gotenks all eventually clash with the God of Destruction, Beerus, and would all likely remain playable characters. It is possible, but somewhat unlikely, that Majin Buu would be a playable character as well, since he fights Beerus, but given his role as a sort of plot device in Dragon Ball Super, it seems unlikely. Finally, Beerus and Whis both have character data stored in the game already, potentially meaning they could become playable during intermissions following the conclusion of the arc?

Depending on how much filler content CyberConnect2 decides to include in the DLC, the main stories will mostly revolve around the Z Warriors fighting Beerus. Fights fans can expect would include Super Saiyan 3 Goku vs. Beerus, Buu vs. Beerus, Piccolo (with Tien and Android 18 as support characters) vs. Beerus, Gohan vs. Beerus, Vegeta vs. Beerus, Gotenks vs. Beerus, and Super Saiyan God Goku vs. Beerus. This is perhaps the most exciting development of the arc, as it will introduce the power of God Ki to Goku, Vegeta, and of course the player.

At some point during the intermission between the Battle of the Gods arc and Resurrection F arc, players should get to train with Whis as both Vegeta and Goku, unlocking the mighty power of Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan (or Super Saiyan Blue, as it is more commonly referred to). This will be the limit of power in terms of transformation most likely, unless CyberConnect2 decides to continue adapting Dragon Ball Super in the future, introducing Super Saiyan Blue Kaioken, Super Saiyan Blue Evolution, and Ultra Instinct.

Regarding new areas, once again there is not much that needs to be added. Most of the battle with Frieza seems to take place in the wastelands type area, so there'd be little need to introduce (or design for that matter) new areas to the game. Earth already has a good diversity of areas as is, although something more to do on New Namek would be nice. If it wasn't already, Beerus' planet should become available to players for the many training sessions that Vegeta and Goku undergo there.

One of the nice things about Resurrection F is that it gave a lot of characters a chance to shine while they waited for Goku and Vegeta to return from Beerus' home world. In a massive battle against Frieza's army of goons, Gohan, Piccolo, Tien, Krillin, Master Roshi, and Jaco all get to show what they're made of. Most of these characters are already playable, but some are currently support characters that may be made into playable characters. Finally, fans may have the chance to actually play as Master Roshi, something that many long for. Whether Jaco will be made into a playable character remains to be seen, but given his cowardly nature, it seems unlikely.

Some training battles against Beerus or Whis are likely to dominate the beginning of this arc, while the middle portion should be made up of enjoyable fights between the Z Warriors and the Frieza Force. Once Goku and Vegeta return, though, the real challenge will be facing down Golden Frieza as Super Saiyan Blue Goku. Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta will get a chance to fight Frieza as well, and the arc will end after Whis reverses time to nullify Frieza's planet-busting move and Goku heads in to finish Golden Frieza off, sending him back to hell.

Technically speaking, all of this is speculation, but the odds of the upcoming DLC being based on anything other than the Gods of the Universe arc are slim at best. The possibility of including Whis and Beerus as playable characters along with players being able to access Super Saiyan Blue for Goku and Vegeta is an exciting one for sure, and fans don't have long to wait for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's DLC. In the end, only time will tell what direction CyberConnect2 and Bandai Namco Entertainment decide to take this DLC and whether or not the companies will eventually continue to adapt the rest of Dragon Ball Super.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
