Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's DLC is almost here, and as an additional end game task, the God of Destruction Beerus will be available as a boss fight. Beerus represents the pinnacle of power in the Dragon Ball cosmos, and is rumored to be the strongest God of Destruction in all 12 universes. While it is true that angels like Whis are said to be even more powerful, that level of strength is not thought to be attainable by mortals, but fans of Dragon Ball Super have seen mortals become Gods of Destruction firsthand. Will Beerus live up to his name in terms of gameplay, or will the very first boss fight, Raditz, still reign supreme as one of the most difficult in the game?

For those unaware, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's upcoming DLC will add Dragon Ball Super characters such as Beerus and Whis to the game. These two won't play the role they traditionally did in Battle of Gods, instead jumping straight into their roles as trainers for Goku and Vegeta. The two Saiyans can train with Whis in order to unlock the Super Saiyan God form, and it is said that with enough training, a boss fight with Beerus the Destroyer will be unlocked.

Raditz Boss Fight

DBZ: Kakarot redeems Raditz in the most ironic of ways. Traditionally, being the weakest villain faced in all of Dragon Ball Z, Raditz is a laughing stock in most DBZ games. He is usually relegated to be a tutorial type boss and then quickly forgotten, but Kakarot rectifies this mistake. Truly, Raditz was a fearsome threat when he arrived on Earth, forcing Earth's strongest warriors, Piccolo and Goku, to set aside their differences and work together to defeat him. The battle even cost Goku his life, resulting in the care free Saiyan's first death.

The fight with Raditz is so difficult for a number of reasons. For one, being that it is early on in the game, there is some aspect of players not being fully accustomed to the controls, but there is something more that makes this fight so engaging. Goku is around level four during this fight, meaning his pool of techniques is limited to a few physical moves and the basic Kamehameha. Pair that fact together with the relatively low stats and lack of outrageously powerful transformation moves, and the fight is relatively tame on the Kakarot power scale when compared to others.

Beerus Boss Fight

While there is no doubt in anyone's mind that Beerus will certainly be higher level, have more hit points, deal more damage, and overall be more powerful than Raditz, will his boss fight be as difficult as the Saiyan's? Due to Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's backwards difficulty curve, the answer isn't quite so obvious. While all of that is true, players are also exponentially more powerful than when they fought Raditz, and the addition of Super Saiyan God and an extended skill tree offer only more room to keep growing.

Some fans found the later fights in the game to be much easier than the early ones, to the point where incredibly powerful foes like Kid Buu were rather easy to take down in gameplay, only to be followed up by a cutscene of characters talking about how strong they are. It is possible that even Beerus will fall prey to this problem, but it is more likely that each player's experience will differ based on what they've done after beating Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot.

Player Level in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot

kakarot-header

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's endgame is admittedly lacking in content, leaving players with not much to do other than fill out the Z Encyclopedia. While players can now travel back in time to finish sub-stories players might have missed, Kakarot's new time machine has many problems as well that make it less than ideal to use. As such, many players have taken to grinding out experience to reach the highest level available to them, level 250. The road to such a high level is tedious, as it involves mostly grinding the level 100 training mission with Bonyu, but the feeling of satisfaction once all characters are level 250 is well worth it to some.

Given that the DLC content and the Super Saiyan God form will be available to players before beating the story, and possibly even before beating Raditz, will the Beerus boss fight be unlockable early as well? If so, how will Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot handle the scaling of the battle? It would make most sense to have Beerus be a level 250 or higher threat given the magnitude of his strength, but while that would provide a nice challenge for those who've reached that level, it would invalidate the content for those who don't find repeatedly destroying Bonyu worth doing.

On the other hand, if Beerus is set at a lower level, say 150 or so (around what the secret boss fight, Mira, was at), then though he may be challenging for some, he will be a complete joke to those players who have already leveled up quite a bit. To alleviate this problem, his level could scale with the player, or perhaps he will be available at several different levels in a similar way that Bonyu was. Even still, he will need to be one powerhouse of an enemy to contest with players, and hopefully will feature some new moves to dodge.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will be releasing its first DLC featuring Beerus sometime this Spring, so fans don't have long to wait before this question is answered. Unfortunately, developers have been rather tight-lipped about what exactly their season pass will entail, leaving many asking is Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's season pass worth it. It is very important that CyberConnect2 delivers a compelling and challenging boss fight in Beerus so as to not disappoint fans further and to remind fans why they loved the base game of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot so much.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
