After a long wait, fans have finally been able to sink their teeth into Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's DLC 1. That said, the DLC's total play time of four hours paled in comparison to the four months fans waited for it, and many have already done all that it offers. With that in mind, fans are looking towards the future, puzzling at what potential DLC 2 will have and what that might bring to the table. Using this first DLC as a framework, it is pretty easy to tell what the second DLC could look like, as it will likely mirror the first boss battle episode rather closely.

For those that haven't kept up with Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's post launch support, the first DLC dropped late last month. This DLC is dubbed a boss battle episode and sees the player transported to Beerus' planet where new training with Whis is unlocked. Should the player feel up to it, they can take on Beerus, the God of Destruction, in a truly challenging boss battle. Whis' training grants players a much faster way to level up and even allows Goku and Vegeta to unlock transformations earlier than the story would normally allow them to, culminating in the coveted Super Saiyan God form for the pair.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot - DLC 2

Given that the first Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot DLC loosely adapted the events of the events of the first arc of Dragon Ball Super and the first Dragon Ball Z movie, Battle of Gods, it seems obvious that the second one will follow suit with the second arc of Dragon Ball Super and the second Dragon Ball Z movie, Resurrection F. For those that need a refresher, this arc sees the remnants of Frieza's army gather the dragon balls and resurrect the evil tyrant.

Following his resurrection, Frieza decides to train (something he has apparently never done before) in order to become more powerful than Goku and exact his revenge, and in just a few short months unlocks his Golden Form, gaining the power to rival the gods. Unfortunately for him, upon arriving on Earth, Goku and Vegeta reveal that they have unlocked Super Saiyan Blue form and are able to overpower the emperor with relative ease, killing him and sending him back to hell. This sets the stage for the second DLC of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot to come.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot DLC 2 Training With Whis

Whis in Dragon Ball Z Kakarot

Just like the first DLC, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot DLC 2 will likely take place in a continuity separate from the main story so as to avoid any potential plot holes. Vegeta and Goku will once again be the only playable characters, as no other characters in the anime get much plot development or power ups during this arc, and a new training with Whis should be available. This training should offer players a way to unlock the Super Saiyan Blue form, which will follow the same pattern as other forms in the game, this time starting out at a 200% boost at level 1 and eventually providing 250% to all stats at level 3.

It is also possible that the DLC will raise the level cap in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, as most players will already be level 250 by the time this one arrives given that it is necessary to beat Beerus. Depending on whether or not the level cap is raised, Whis may or may not offer players new, more challenging Super Level Up training modules beyond the level 200 option currently available to players, before culminating in a new Limit Break Training (set at perhaps level 200, 250, or if there's a level cap raise, whatever the new maximum is) to unlock Super Saiyan Blue.

Golden Frieza from Dragon Ball Super

Finally, in much the same way that Beerus was the ultimate challenge of DLC 1, Golden Frieza will fill the same role in DLC 2. Frieza will probably return at whatever the new maximum level is for players, and should provide a truly challenging and engaging boss fight if the Beerus boss fight is anything to go off of. In order to beat Frieza, players will likely need to be at the max level and have unlocked the Super Saiyan Blue form; finally it is also likely that setting specific know-how abilities will be tremendously useful.

There are a lot of particularly great moments that Bandai Namco and CyberConnect2 could include in this DLC, as well as a lot of opportunities that are unique to Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, but given the stripped down nature of the first add on this seems unlikely. For example, the scenes of the Z Warriors battling the Frieza Force while awaiting Goku and Vegeta's return would be excellent to include, and could provide these characters a much needed chance to shine.

Furthermore, in the canon of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, Frieza has already been revived by Goku with the Namekian dragon balls, and though he is defeated again he is not killed. This would provide an interesting opportunity for the developers to work this back into the story, but it seems like this won't be the case given the parallel nature of the add-ons and the way they can be accessed at any time. Still, one can hope that a little more thought might be put into the execution of this DLC as compared to the first one.

All in all, DLC 2 has a lot of potential if it is executed correctly. A new form, a higher level cap, and a new challenge would do wonders to continue to bring fans back to the game, but it is vital that more content is added this time so that fans stay after returning. Adding some new features or objectives to the main story as opposed to keeping everything wrapped up in the add-ons menu would help with this, and Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is in a unique position to make this story arc better than it has ever been before.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
