The vast majority of Dragon Ball Z video games are fighting games, so it's refreshing to see Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot take a crack at the action-RPG genre instead. Though the game isn't due for release until 2020, Bandai Namco Entertainment has consistently released new screenshots and gameplay footage of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, with the latest showing off the fight with Goku's brother Raditz.

One of the biggest early fights in Dragon Ball Z is when Goku faces off against Raditz, and in many ways, it sets the tone for things to come with Vegeta, who is the real "big bad" of the Saiyan Saga. Since the fight with Raditz is likely going to be one of the first major fights that players experience in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, it's fitting that Bandai Namco has decided to use it to show off the game's combat mechanics.

The clip is short, but it shows both Goku and Piccolo in action in their fight against Raditz, and gives fans one of their closest looks yet at how the combat in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot works.

Of course, Goku and Piccolo are far from the only characters that will be featured in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. They are two just of the playable characters in the game, with Gohan and Vegeta also playable. The playable characters will be joined by plenty of non-playable familiar faces from the Dragon Ball Z franchise, including Krillin, Tienshinan, Chiaotzu, and Yamcha, who will serve as support fighters in the game.

At this point, it's unclear exactly how far Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will go into the Dragon Ball Z storyline. We know that it will go up to the Frieza Saga at the very least, but it's unclear if we will also see the likes of Cell and Majin Buu.

Perhaps if Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is successful enough, we can see the rest of the Dragon Ball Z storyline played out in action-RPG form. Maybe we'll even get far enough to see some of the events of the Dragon Ball Super anime as well. Fans will just have to wait and see how well Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot performs when it launches in early 2020 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
