Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot recently revealed a new trailer for its upcoming Gods of the Universe DLC, and although the trailer was mostly a montage of great DBZ moments from the base game, there was a short bit showcasing Super Saiyan God Goku versus Beerus as well as more details on the season pass. These details have been long awaited by fans, many of whom have owned the season pass for some time without knowing what it would include, but there is a caveat. Of note, Bandai Namco changed the terminology in the season pass from 2 original story episodes to 2 boss battle episodes, a revision which means big things for the season pass.

For those unaware, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's season pass originally was listed to have 2 original story episodes and 1 new story arc, and the wording brought about a lot of confusion. Many fans were uncertain whether the two original story episodes would make up the new story arc or if they would be separate things altogether, and the word choice of "original story episode" led many to believe that the DLC may feature more information on Bonyu, the sixth member of the Ginyu Force and Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's original character

DBZ: Kakarot - 2 Boss Battle Episodes

It has now been confirmed that Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's DLC 1 will include the training with Whis to unlock the Super Saiyan God form as well as the boss battle with Beerus, God of Destruction. With this in mind, it seems that the story episodes won't really be original episodes after all, rather just original takes on the already existing material. This is rather strange considering how much pride Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot took in faithfully adapting the story of the Dragon Ball Z anime.

Regardless, it stands to reason that if the first boss battle episode takes inspiration from the first canon Dragon Ball Z movie, Battle of Gods, that the second boss battle episode would draw inspiration from the second canon Dragon Ball Z movie, Resurrection F. This means that when DLC 2 releases, fans might be able to continue training with Whis in order to unlock the Super Saiyan Blue form in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, an achievement which would be followed up with yet another boss battle, this time against Golden Frieza and his newly reformed Frieza Force. Of course, this is all just speculation at the moment until further details are revealed.

DBZ: Kakarot - New Story Arc

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's new story arc has the potential to be anything, even a Universe 6 DLC, but that seems rather unlikely. Instead, it is more plausible that DBZ: Kakarot would adapt the events of the Dragon Ball Super: Broly movie, as there are already some hidden files containing dialogue from Broly's movies (although these lines are from the original Dragon Ball Z Broly movies). Although this movie does technically take place after the Tournament of Power, neither Goku nor Vegeta use any of the unique forms they've attained since then, instead relying only on Super Saiyan Blue which would have already been introduced to Kakarot in DLC 2.

Beyond this, it is possible that any of the non-canon DBZ movies or even Dragon Ball: GT could be candidates for DLC 3, but given that the approach seems to be reimagined stories from Dragon Ball Super, Broly seems more likely. Furthermore, this would be a great way for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot to introduce Gogeta into the game, who alongside Vegito and Gotenks reign as some of the most popular characters in the franchise. Hopefully Bandai Namco will reveal some more concrete information, such as a release date or the subjects of DLC 2 and 3 soon.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
