Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot leaks recently revealed new information about the upcoming DLC 2 pack. Not only do fans now have even more confirmation that Golden Frieza will be the main antagonist, but some more in depth information about the evil emperor has been revealed as well. Fans now have a good idea of what sorts of techniques and moves Golden Frieza will use against them, and while many of the inclusions were to be expected, the shock of this announcement comes from what is missing. One of Frieza's most iconic and deadly moves, the Death Beam, is no where to be found on his moves list.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot isn't the first game to adapt Frieza as a villain and it certainly won't be the last, but almost every incarnation of this infamous tyrant includes his signature Death Beam attack. The battles against Frieza during the Namek Saga and at the start of the Cell Saga all see him using this move, but recent evidence suggests that he may have moved past it after unlocking his Golden Form.

According to the V Jump leaks shared by credible Dragon Ball reporter, Dragon Ball Hype, Golden Frieza will have at least four techniques. These include Golden Death Ball, Golden Edge, Golden Death Slicer, and Golden Rush. While some of these techniques such as Golden Rush and Golden Edge are completely new, others like Golden Death Ball and Golden Death Slicer draw inspiration from earlier Frieza techniques. Both Death Ball and Death Slicer were techniques used by Full Power and Mecha Frieza during the last two battles with him in the story, so these Golden variants will likely just be stronger or more difficult to dodge.

Both of those techniques are also fairly iconic for Frieza, as he used Death Ball to destroy Planet Vegeta and eventually Planet Namek, and the Death Slicer is the move that Goku used to cut the tyrant in half. However, it feels incomplete without the third iconic move, Death Beam. This technique was used to kill Vegeta as well as countless others during Frieza's reign and is to Frieza as the Kamehameha is to Goku. It should be said, however, that not all hope is lost for Death Beam and Golden Frieza fanatics.

Will Golden Frieza Have Death Beam?

The tweet above lists those four moves as Special Techniques, but nowhere does Dragon Ball Hype indicate that these are Golden Frieza's only techniques. It is always possible that Frieza will have access to a wider variety of moves than these, especially since DLC 2 seems to be structured differently than DLC 1 in at least some ways. At the moment, it's too early to tell whether or not Golden Frieza will have access to the Death Beam technique or some kind of Golden Death Beam variant, but there is precedent for it.

For starters, the move is already in the game, though hopefully a new version of it would be slightly more difficult to dodge. What's more, the previous boss battle episode antagonist, Beerus, had access to six different techniques which he would use at random. This provided Beerus with a level of unpredictability befitting of his character, and the same thing could work for Frieza. Though this character's moves are planned out to a greater degree than Beerus', giving Golden Frieza access to six or more moves would allow him to confuse the player with calculated decisions. Death Beam would be a great first pick for an expanded moveset beyond these four.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
