Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot presents players with the opportunity to experience the events of Dragon Ball Z in RPG form. While the base game contained most of the massive series, DLC packs have filled in the gaps, especially those revolving around different characters. While DLC for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot has taken many other forms, and the game continues to grow and change, the second season pass's final pack, DLC 6, may prove to be shorter than the others before it. The game's 6th DLC pack is heavily rumored to be adapting the End of Z Saga, one of the franchise's shortest arcs, and one that has very few places to go story-wise.

Dragon Ball Z's End of Z Saga, also known as the Peaceful World Saga, is an epilogue of sorts for Dragon Ball Z. Set after Goku's final battle against Buu, the Peaceful World Saga is placed a decade in the future. The main event of the arc has Goku participating in the 28th World Martial Arts Tournament, eventually facing a child named Uub, who is the good-guy reincarnation of Buu. During their fight, Goku offers to train him, and the two abandon the fight so that Goku can train him to be the next protector of the world.

Adapting The Peaceful World Saga Will Be Challenging

The Peaceful World Saga, while an important part of Dragon Ball Z's timeline, is going to be challenging to adapt into game form, and presents potential issues for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's third season of DLC, which is heavily rumored. This final arc takes up only a handful of chapters in the manga, and 3 episodes of the anime. Other than the unfinished tournament fight, there isn't too much action to speak of. While it certainly makes sense for the game to include it, there just isn't much to cover. There are some ways it could be expanded, however.

One way that an End of Z DLC could flesh itself out is by having the player fight other matches in the tournament, or by spending more time with other characters. While this would constitute new content and require expanding what's in the source material, it could be a way to make the arc feel more worthy of being a paid addition to the game. While the tournament gets canceled, Pan, Goten, and Trunks are seen sparring, with Pan ultimately winning. While this is low stakes, it presents an opportunity for developers to throw in some more gameplay for the arc. It could also dive more into Goku training Uub.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's DLC 6 Faces Other Challenges As Well

The other challenge this arc presents is what it would mean for future DLC. While a third season of DLC is unconfirmed, it is heavily rumored that Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will receive content from Dragon Ball Super and Dragon Ball GT. Super is an interquel, taking place during the 10-year time skip before the Peaceful World Saga. GT is a sequel of questionable canonicity, set after the Peaceful World Saga. A Dragon Ball Super standalone game is also long overdue, and there is more than enough content for one.

The inclusion of the Peaceful World Saga in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is just one of the challenges the game currently faces. CyberConnect 2 will likely have to take some creative liberties to make it feel the appropriate size for paid DLC. It seems fairly certain, though, that Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's sixth DLC will have a shorter runtime than the game's other additional content.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is available now for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
