Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot has confirmed the release date of its fifth DLC, which will adapt the events of the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament. The original game released in 2020, where it gave fans the chance to re-experience the entirety of the original Dragon Ball Z in an action-RPG format, letting the players explore the Dragon World at their leisure while combating a variety of enemies. While the base game would adapt the events of the DBZ-era, Bandai Namco has been releasing DLC that expands beyond it to feature content outside of it. The fifth DLC pack goes back in the timeline, where it will focus on the final arc before Dragon Ball's transition to Z, the 23rd World Martial Arts tournament.

With this DLC focusing on Dragon Ball's World Martial Arts tournament, it will feature all the battles that take place at the event, which includes the final battle between Son Goku and Demon King Piccolo's reincarnation. This expansion can be considered a prequel to DBZ: Kakarot itself, as it has iconic moments like the very first time audiences saw Goku grow from a young child into a young man. The release date for this DLC has been revealed, and fans will get to play it very soon.

Bandai Namco announced that this DLC for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will be released worldwide on August 17. This was accompanied by a piece of the game's teaser art, which depicts the final confrontation between Goku and Majunior. The art also depicts the early version of young adult Goku, where the hero is slimmer looking and lacking the defined muscles he'd gain later in life.

The tournament DLC will also have some different gameplay mechanics when compared to the normal game, where players will get to battle with Goku using a unique Ground Battle mode. In this mode, fighters can get knocked down and have to get up before the ten count or else they lose, or can be knocked out of the arena for an instant victory. On top of that, players won't only control Goku in this DLC, as Tien will also be playable in the World Tournament DLC.

In terms of what comes after this DLC, it's mostly up in the air. Leaks of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's DLC plans indicate that it could possibly focus on what is referred to as the "Peaceful World" Saga, which supposedly will cover the timeskip events that take place after the Buu Saga. While it is a somewhat anticlimactic arc of events to adapt for the final DLC of this season pass, it would be somewhat appropriate after releasing a DLC that focused on the 23rd World Martial Arts tournament. Fans will just need to wait and see for more news on that end, however.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
