Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot has all but confirmed that Golden Frieza will be the antagonist of the upcoming boss battle in DLC 2, but fans still aren't sure exactly what to expect. Bandai Namco continues its trend of keeping the flow of information at a minimum and the only real clues players have to go off of are from V Jump scans and leaks. While there's nothing definitive out there about how DLC 2 and Golden Frieza himself will play out, fans of the game can piece together what the experience will look like by referencing the previous DLC and what little information does currently exist.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot DLC 1 introduced elements of Dragon Ball Super by adding Beerus and Whis to the game, so the next logical step in the chain was Golden Frieza. For a short time, there was some debate surrounding whether or not Hit would be the boss in DLC 2, but it seems that the community has agreed on Frieza's return for the most part now. Although there's still no release date in sight, many are speculating that DLC 2 will release sometime this month, but for that information fans will simply have to wait for an official announcement from either Bandai Namco or the V Jump scans.

Golden Frieza and Beerus in DBZ: Kakarot

Raise DBZ: Kakarot Level Cap

Even before the base game released, players pondered at whether or not Dragon Ball Super would be represented within Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. Now fans know that it is being added in DLC form, and finally this means that Golden Frieza will be making his way into the game. Fans of the tyrant are no doubt excited, and it is worth looking at Beerus' boss battle to get an idea of how Golden Frieza will work in terms of gameplay when players finally come face to face with him at the end of DLC 2.

Like Beerus, Golden Frieza will almost certainly be at the max level available to the player. At the moment, that level is 250, but there are talks that Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot may raise the level cap in DLC 2 to 300 or even 350. This will ensure that players can't beat Golden Frieza by simply outleveling him, and that they will instead have to rise to the challenge of besting a foe more powerful than them once again. Also like Beerus, the fight will probably be repeatable in some way and should prevent players from using items to win.

Golden Frieza Fight in DBZ: Kakarot

DBS Golden Frieza

Before fighting Golden Frieza, recent DBZ: Kakarot V Jump scans lead players to believe that they'll need to take on his army first. The picture in question shows the two Super Saiyan Blue Z Warriors doing battle with 50 enemies at once, all from Frieza's new army. After this, fans will presumably get to go head to head with Frieza in his golden form. This fight will likely be very similar to the Beerus boss battle with a few notable differences to spice things up a bit and provide a different type of challenge to players.

Obviously Golden Frieza's moveset will be different than that of Beerus'. While Beerus' attacks tend to be erratic and unpredictable, Golden Frieza will probably fight with much more intention than the God of Destruction. It's also worth noting that Beerus was battling Goku and Vegeta to test their power, whereas Frieza is out for blood. Especially given the upcoming DLC's focus on battling multiple enemies at once, it could be that Golden Frieza will have backup from Frieza Force soldiers throughout the fight, causing players to deal with them while trying to manage the ruthless attacks from Frieza himself.

Resurrection F VS DBZ: Kakarot

DBZ Freiza

One question many fans are asking is how Frieza will return within the canon of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. In the original Resurrection F movie and anime adaptations of this story arc, remnants of Frieza's army manage to get their hands on the Dragon Balls and wish him back. Determined to get revenge on Goku for humiliating him, Frieza trains relentlessly for months and unlocks his new Golden Form, attaining power that can rival even the gods. Things are likely to go down a little differently within Kakarot's canon, however.

For most players, Frieza has already been revived by Goku with the Dragon Balls, and a sub-story that follows sees Goku unleash Super Saiyan 3 on his most infamous rival. It would stand to reason that seeing this display of power would push Frieza to test his limits and try and reach the heights of his power before exacting his vengeance, perhaps causing him to train more than he originally had. This could be a possible explanation for how Golden Frieza is so powerful in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot despite Goku and Vegeta clearly outclassing him during the events of Resurrection F.

DBZ: Kakarot Boss Battle DLC Stories

Of course, all of that depends solely on how Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot decides to handle the story of its second DLC. In the case of the first DLC, everything happened in a timeline outside of the main one. Goku and Vegeta were simply brought to Beerus' planet and trained by Whis. Though the powers and items gained from this training do carry over to the base game, their new forms and abilities are never mentioned or brought up by characters in any way, and this DLC can even be accessed before unlocking Vegeta as a character. The origins of Super Saiyan God were even changed to an extent.

It could be that rather than delve into the story of Resurrection F, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will simply create another separate DLC area that has Goku and Vegeta train with Whis to unlock Super Saiyan Blue and then do battle with Golden Frieza. This would be a shame since there is some potential to provide a unique take on the story of Golden Frieza, but it does seem more likely given how the first DLC worked. Ultimately, only time will tell what Bandai Namco and CyberConnect2 decide to do.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
