Ever since Gohan Beast made his debut in 2022's Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, fans have been wondering about the power he holds, only knowing that it is indeed great. After a long and very one-sided battle against the monstrous Cell Max, Gohan was finally able to tap into his potential and unlock this form, after which he swiftly ended the enemy with just a few hits.

Because this feat of strength was highly impressive, many have wondered if this form could surpass Goku and Vegeta. Since his potential is already far greater on account of being a half-Saiyan, Gohan holds within him the key to continuously keep growing in strength, so let's see if this means he will leave Goku and Vegeta in the dust as the strongest mortal of Universe 7.

Despite all the power-ups and world-breaking attacks, one of Dragon Ball's most important characters relies solely on her mind.

What Gohan Beast's Awakening Means For the Future of the Series

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero – Son Gohan Beast

Gohan's most powerful transformation, and the one that currently may allow him to contend with Goku and Vegeta, is the imposing Gohan Beast. Though seen very briefly in the Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero movie, Gohan unlocked this transformation after watching Piccolo almost die at the hands of Cell Max, a foe that was stated to be one of the most powerful ever introduced in the series.

Upon his transformation, Gohan made very short work of an enemy that the rest of the Z-Fighters were desperately struggling against, catching his fist and delivering a kick at blistering speeds to inflict a ton of damage to send the monster flying backward. It was here that Piccolo would restrain him so Gohan could charge his incredible Makankosappo and fire it at Cell's core, putting him down for good.

Because his appearance in the battle was very brief, fans could not get a full glimpse as to what Gohan Beast is truly capable of. Still, though, it is quite easy to infer that the power he holds is incredible. In the promotional material for the film, series creator Akira Toriyama stated that Gohan Beast is the strongest hero in the entire Dragon Ball universe, seemingly putting him above even Goku and Vegeta. This is further exacerbated at the end of the movie where Gohan states that he isn't sure if they could even have beaten Cell Max.

As far as feats go, Gohan Beast does not have many due to him only having one appearance within the series. However, Cell Max was an enemy that no one else could seem to get a handle on and was a genuine threat to the entire planet, so to see Gohan make such short work of him truly speaks to the power that his new form has. Gohan's latent power is truly astonishing as his potential seems to match, if not surpass, that of Broly.

The Sorry State of Dragon Ball

Modern Dragon Ball has had its fair share of detractors, despite its popularity. Can the franchise get back to what made it great?

Goku and Vegeta Have Divine Powers to Contend With

On the other hand, Goku and Vegeta do not share the same benefits from their latent potential as someone like Gohan or Broly. All the power that the two of them have is achieved through rigorous training that they have undergone over the years as well as honing their bodies to their limits, perfecting their respective fighting styles and techniques to further strengthen their power.

Goku's most powerful tool is the Angel's technique of Ultra Instinct. For Goku, the form has gone through many iterations until it finally landed on the one that suits him best in the Granolah arc. This True Ultra Instinct allows Goku to use all the benefits of the ability in tandem with his Saiyan powers, turning the already powerful form into an even more efficient one for Goku to have.

Ultra Instinct made its debut in the Tournament of Power arc, where it outclassed Jiren the Grey, an enemy so powerful that no one could do anything to him up till that point. After that, Goku used the form against Moro, a galactic-level threat that was powerful enough to drain entire planets of their energies and life force in the blink of an eye. This form was only matched by the villain when he absorbed the Merus and could use it himself. Even after that, however, Goku unlocked his Spirit Avatar and made UI even stronger than before.

Vegeta's Ultra Ego is the exact opposite of Goku's Divine Technique, in that this form is what allows Vegeta to house and utilize the power of the Gods of Destruction. Instead of avoiding damage, this form invites it and gets even stronger with each subsequent hit Vegeta receives. Though the form still has a few faults that need to be straightened out, the offensive output of Ultra Ego is second to none, as each hit Vegeta takes makes his next attacks even stronger.

Dragon Ball Super's Moro Arc Will Break The Internet

Dragon Ball Super's first full manga arc set after the Tournament of Power promises to be an absolute game-changer.

This has only been shown in the Granolah arc and, even then, it was Vegeta's first time using it, which is why the technique is yet to be perfected through training. Despite this, it was able to perform way better against Granolah and was even briefly stronger than Goku's Mastered Ultra Instinct, with the power to use Hakai and the ability to get stronger with each hit taken. Once perfected, Ultra Ego will be the perfect companion to True Ultra Instinct.

So, Can Gohan Surpass Goku and Vegeta?

Dragon Ball Super Super Hero - Ultimate Gohan

Historically, within the series, Gohan has always been able to unlock a new form that greatly surpasses everyone else in terms of power. This was true with him being the first to go Super Saiyan 2 against Perfect Cell as well as unlocking his Ultimate/Potential Unleashed form, which was even stronger than Super Saiyan 3 Goku at the time of its introduction. So, when it comes to asking whether Gohan can surpass everyone, the answer is absolutely.

Gohan Beast was able to take down Cell Max despite having paused his training for a long time, going purely off of his power and nothing else. However, this does not mean that Gohan is stronger than Goku and Vegeta at the current moment. Cell Max was incredibly powerful, but he was still shown to be taking damage from the weaker Z-Fighters such as Krillin, Android 18, Trunks and Goten.

While none of this damage was substantial or even did anything serious to him, it should be noted that Jiren was far more powerful than even Super Saiyan Blue Goku and Vegeta and made their attacks negligible to him, so these same Z-Fighters would be so far beneath him that he would barely notice. Due to this, it can be easily deduced that Jiren would still out scale Cell Max by a very tight margin, and Ultra Instinct made a full-powered Jiren look weak.

As Goku and Vegeta have only gotten stronger since then, it only exacerbates this point. So, while Gohan Beast is far more powerful than Cell Max and Jiren, he still requires some, albeit minimal, help to put the former down. This would scale him to around the same level as Goku's first iteration of Mastered Ultra Instinct, though still below where Goku and Vegeta currently are.

Dragon Ball can be streamed on Crunchyroll and Funimation.
