Highlights

  • Gohan and Broly have the potential to form the strongest fusion in Dragon Ball history, rivaling Vegito and Gogeta in power.
  • The fusion would combine Gohan's latent potential with Broly's genetic anomaly, resulting in a warrior with incredible abilities and techniques.
  • Fusion could happen using Potara Earrings, making it a simple process compared to the Fusion Dance, allowing for a powerful and unique transformation.

The concept of fusion is one of the most beloved aspects of the Dragon Ball franchise. By having two powerful characters merge, an entirely new entity is born that is far stronger than either of their constituents. The most famous fusions in the series are Vegito and Gogeta, the results of a merger between Goku and Vegeta using the Potara Earrings and Fusion Dance respectively.

Despite being Goku's first-ever choice, Gohan has never fused with anyone. However, Dragon Ball Super has presented the half-blooded Saiyan with the perfect opportunity to do so with the inclusion of the incredibly powerful Broly. If they were to fuse, they could potentially form the strongest mortal that the multiverse has ever seen, possibly even eclipsing both Vegito and Gogeta, so let's see why this is.

Dragon Ball: Why Goku vs. Vegeta Should Never Have A Clear Winner

Goku and Vegeta's rivalry is arguably the most iconic in anime, but here's why there shouldn't be a clear winner between them.

The Strength of the Potential Fusion

Even though Gohan and Broly have not trained as hard as Goku and Vegeta, they are within the same tier of power as them. While they do hold unique and special abilities in their arsenals, this can be chalked up to their incredible latent potential, which allows them to get much stronger through their emotions rather than having to train hard day and night for it.

For Gohan, his potential is staggering due to the mixture of his Saiyan and Human genetics, which is essentially a perfect pairing that allows him to tap into something deeper to gain a sudden surge in power. Broly, on the other hand, can attribute his potential to the fact that he is just a genetic anomaly. Despite being born to a non-elite class Saiyan family, his power was far greater than any other child at the time, which was the reason King Vegeta had him exiled to Planet Vampa.

Power comes as a response to a need, not a desire. You have to create that need.

If these two characters were to fuse, they would form a warrior of such incredible power that could give Vegito and Gogeta a run for their money. This can be seen with the strength of both of his constituents, as Broly was able to match up to Super Saiyan Blue Goku and Vegeta while only being in his base and Super Saiyan forms, whereas Gohan was able to unlock his incredible Beast form despite not having trained properly for quite a while. This form was so great that it matched up to Ultra Instinct Goku!

By mixing the two characters with some of the greatest potentials in the series, the resulting fusion would have the ability to close the gap of power between himself and his opponent with very little effort, making him more than a match for someone even as strong as Black Frieza. In fact, many in the community believe that this potential fusion, in its strongest state, could give Beerus a tougher fight than just about anyone else!

Abilities and Techniques

Being a fusion, this character would be able to use any of the techniques of both Gohan and Broly. This means that each of their most powerful moves can be used, from Gohan's Special Beam Canon to Broly's own Planet Crusher! Moreover, just as it has been seen with Gogeta and Vegito, the fusion can use attacks that are a combination of the moves belonging to each character, so an incredibly powerful Special Beam Canon or Super Kamehameha mixed with one of Broly's destructive attacks could be part of his repertoire!

Moreover, though this hasn't really been shown in other fusions, this fusion could also probably make use of both of their most powerful forms! The reason why this hasn't been shown before is because, up until Dragon Ball Super, the Saiyans mostly relied on similar transformations, and only now do they have unique ones. By using the incredible strength of Broly's Legendary Super Saiyan with the speed and ferocity of Gohan Beast, this potential fusion could even possibly have a unique Legendary Beast transformation!

How Would The Fusion Happen?

Just like with all other fusions in the series, there are 2 options as to how Gohan and Broly can fuse. The first, and more likely of these, is fusion using the Potara Earrings, which essentially just has each participant wear an earring, causing them to immediately fuse. This seems to be a far more likely way for Gohan and Broly to fuse due to how simple the action is to perform, as all that is needed is to wear the earrings on opposite ears.

Though the result is more or less the same as the Fusion Dance in terms of power, the Potara Earrings require no intricate and precise movements from the participants. Broly is known to be a very impulsive and brash fighter, so it would be even more difficult for him to come to the right headspace to perform the movement exactly the same as Gohan, which requires them to be incredibly in-sync, down to their breathing pattern!
